Chasing The Edge

Hi,

Yesterday I finished recording a 33 minute instrumental track called Infinity... Plus One. This track, Chasing The Edge, is the fifth section of it - it's one of the more self-contained sections and so here it is for you to listen to!

It's only on SoundCloud:
http://snd.sc/oqYDHi

If you recognise this at all it may be because I posted an early version of the original idea about 9 months ago using a guitar I got for Christmas (it's also on my Soundcloud page and it's called 'Work In Progress - Standard Rock Instrumental').

Please forgive the sudden ending - this is part of a larger piece and rather than fade it out I thought I'd just stop it at the section boundary.

Hope you enjoy it!

Cheers,
Terry.

Might want to bring the lead up a bit.

Hi Terry, this sure rocks, would like to hear the lead guitar a bit clearer also the timing seems strange at about 1:33 because of a delay effect, I think. I would rather hear that nice piano of yours for those last few notes imho.

    Hi,

@Wookiee - thanks for listening! It's a bit strange... I'm wondering if SoundCloud has altered the track slightly... I listen to the WAV file and it's crystal clear and right out in front, but then I listen to the SoundCloud link (same file uploaded) and it sounds a bit set back in the mix. I'll try placing it differently in the stereo field and see if it makes it more prominent on SoundCloud without making it too loud in the WAV file.

@Rik - thanks for listening - See my comment to Wookiee about the lead. As regards the bit at 1:33, I can't hear a problem there (maybe it's deliberate? ;-) )

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Very groovin' instrumental here Terry. I love it. I agree with the others in regards to the lead - needs to come up a tad. Great work!

    Hi,

@Janet - thanks! I was definitely going for a huge sound here and apart from the lead guitar needing to come up in the mix I think it's probably as good as huge as I'm going to get it.

@Luke - Thanks. I'll get round to fixing that lead this weekend I hope!

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Very good work! I like the song a lot. I think the mix is good but it is very dark. IMO, it needs to be brighter. At .35, there is something there for chords but it's hard telling what it is with the mix being so dark. The lead could come up just a bit.

    Great track!

great tune, agree the lead could be a little more distinct, needs some bass eq cut and some highs added. love the percussion, and nice change of tack near the end...
