Chaz Fundraiser

***************************************************************
** Update .. we're doing really well .. thanks everyone for all the
** contributions .. but i'd like to encourage anyone who hasn't contributed
** to do so .. any and all amounts are appreciated by chaz.. thanks!!
***************************************************************

Hi,
Many of you know and have been helped by audio engineer and
good human being Chaz Smithhisler. He needs our help and I hope
that the Cakewalk Forum community can act like a real one and
help the guy out.
Chaz is suffering from a degenerative bone disorder in his jaw
which requires very expensive surgery to correct ... and far more
than he has health insurance to pay for.
So, we got the idea for a online fundraiser to help him out. If you can
please consider donating whatever you can to help out a very good
friend of the forum.

Please see the following link: Chaz Smithhisler Fundraiser

Chaz has been very giving of his time and advice over the years on this
forum and now's our chance to give a little back to someone who needs
our help.

You can donate online using Paypal, Visa or Mastercard

Thanks much,
Jeff
PS: There's a raffle .. ;-)

edit -- it's human being .. not human begin ;-)

The way I see people buying new toys every week onthis forum, I think they can put a crowbar in their wallets and help out a fellow human being.

$25.00 is not going to break the bank. C'mon people. I know Chaz and he'd do it for you!

RE: Chaz Fundraiser 2005/09/01 20:22:19 (permalink)
    Hello all.

First.... Jeff..... My deepest appreciation and sincere thanks to you in your desire to hold this fundraiser on my behalf. You are most definitely a class act in my book!

Second..... My deepest appreciation and sincere thanks to everyone of you who have already contributed to the cause. You guys have no idea how much this means to me. Then again..... You probably do.

Third..... My deepest appreciation and sincere thanks in advance to all who will be contributing to the fundraiser after I have posted my comments.

Fourth..... If you want to help but are not able to, know that just the thought of wanting to do so means a lot to me. Please do not feel bad about not being able to contribute. You do what you can when you can. That is all anyone can do.

    -------

    Now for some facts.....

I recently found out that I have a very serious (and severe) problem with bone loss in the lower jaw and upper plate of my mouth due to a degenerative bone disorder. I did not find out about the bone loss until 7/14/05. And I did not find out the actual extent of it until 8/1/05.

Without going into any great detail, I must undergo two major operations. The first of these will hopefully be scheduled within the next two to three weeks. The second operation will take place six to eight months thereafter. (For more detailed info, you can either ring or email me at the studio.)

Because my condition falls into the Dental category of insurance and I am having to go to a specialist, I am having to pay for 75% of the total cost out-of-pocket. Though I am able to pay for some of this, I cannot pay for it all. Thus, the fundraiser.

I am looking at an overall out-of-pocket payment of somewhere between $30,000 to $35,000 over the next 12 to 14 months. Unfortunately, financing is not an option for me.

Fwiw..... I have some very nice studio equipment that I will be selling. All of the monies will go toward the cost of the surgeries and related treatments. I hate to sell any equipment because I was holding on to it for the new studio, but it can be replaced when and if the appropriate time comes.

I hate that this comes right after the events of Katrina, but Jeff has been working on this for a couple of weeks now and it is up and running now.

If you would like to help out and are able to do so, please feel free to contribute to the cause. Please know that any and all amounts contributed will be greatly and deeply appreciated. And you have my sincerest thanks.

    Thanks and God bless.

    Chaz,
I haven't been around in a while but I just came upon this. I wish you godspeed in your treatment and healing and I hope my small contribution helps you out as best I can at the moment. You have helped me out a ton over the last 2 years and this is the least I could do for you.
    Take care,
