Check the home page - Momentum Is Available
Probably not the right place to post this, but I've been using the beta and the transfer to and from SONAR is seamless. For example you can take a basic song from SONAR that doesn't have lyrics, open it on your phone, and record as you sing along to try out lyrical ideas. So it's not just for capturing ideas and getting them into your DAW. There's a free version so you can check it out.

Exactly! I checked out the website, watched the video, and read the app store description, but I'm still not real clear what's on offer here beyond ease of transfer from mobile to your DAW. They repeatedly mention capturing ideas, then don't tell you how it's done. Is this just for capturing live audio? Are there any instruments?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who looked at that page and said "WTF?" But I liked when it says, "Just pull an idea out of your pocket" "Hey baby, just relax while I whip out my Momentum"

1) Record on your phone/tablet like you would usually. - Use your phone mic or an interface/mic combo.
- You have up to 4 tracks to work with and can bounce to 1 track.
2) Get home from your rehearsal studio/live function/remote podcast/interview. 3) Load your DAW. Insert Momentum as FX. Drag Momentum clips into project. 4) Have a great rough mix for overdubs? Bounce a track or record back into momentum. 5) Record on your phone/tablet like you would usually. It's super efficient if you do remote stuff.

The important point is Momentum includes a cross-platform plug-in (VST. AU, AAX) for doing the transfers.

Pretty cool. App seems well appointed for catching ideas and having an efficient way to get it back to SONAR and build. Seth: "4) Have a great rough mix for overdubs? Bounce a track or record back into momentum." Are you saying it's possible to run off say a music track (desktop SONAR) and have it available in Momentum to keep working on (say) vocal ideas on the phone app wherever you happen to be ( then squirt back into SONAR later). If so, that would be very handy. Like it so far :)

The plugin can be used in multiple ways: 1. Bring in ideas into your DAW. As Seth said you can drag and drop to retrieve all 4 tracks into the DAW or drag in the idea itself from IdeaSpace to get a mix. 2. Transfer data from any DAW to the Momentum Cloud and thereby any connected devices running the Momentum app, or even another DAW on a different PC. In SONAR for example you can do this by dragging audio clips or content from the browser to the plugin. 3. An advanced use is to capture audio in real time from any tap point in the signal flow. For example you could patch the plugin on an aux track or a bus or even place it inside an effects bin to "eavesdrop" on the audio data at any tap point in the signal flow. You capture audio in the plugin by recording it, exactly how you would record it in the standalone app, except that the audio source is from the DAW rather than a hardware input in this case. 4. Turn on Timeline Sync mode in the plugin and have it lock to the transport position in the DAW. This can be useful if you want to sync an idea in the plugin to a complex multi-track project in the DAW 5. Use it like a cloud based audio clipboard to quickly transfer audio from any DAW or mobile device to another device or DAW! Besides the plugin, all flavors of the app (iOS, Android, Mac and PC) will see edits immediately since data is synced with the Momentum Cloud if you are online.

Yes you can ping pong back and forth between the DAW and the mobile app or even from DAW to DAW as I described above.

Thanks Noel. Wow..there's a lot to this...much more than meets the eye initially. Could be a very cool extension of the studio. I do a lot of fairly complex vocal arrangements for clients and I could see being able to work those out..anywhere..with the phone...like outside in the desert or on a mountain. Very cool.

It does appear not to install on my 32 bit systems. I get the error that x64 will not install on my computers. A shame 'cause it looked like a great idea and was keen to give it a try.

Tried it for vocal rehearsing and seems really good! It would be nice to have a possibility to import an mp3 track as a base for these vocal rehearsals.

This sounds like a great little app. I don't use the cloud (I know im living under a rock). but maybe I will have to explore that now. I like the concept of being able record that new idea while I'm driving down the street. Now I can look like that cartoon, where im running over fruit stands on the side of the road while making sure my vocal fits that new jingle. But seriously, cool concept.

Just for testing: Do I need a new Account for Momentum? With my normal SONAR-Password I can login to my desktop app - but I cannot login on my android phone. Both use the same internet-connection. On the desktop I get the message "You have exceeded the limit of 0 ideas yor your account". That means the free version can only record 0 ideas ??

We intentionally didn't release as 32 bit. Our metrics for SONAR show that 64 bit accounts for 98% of our user base. Adding support for 32 bit would greatly increase our testing matrix for little gain. i.e we'd have to test the app and 3 flavors of plugins VST2, VST3 and AAX. I'm curious what the utility of running the momentum plugin as 32 bit is? Pretty much nobody has a 32-bit only PC these days. If the intent is to get the data from the cloud into a SONAR project, you can always load 64 bit SONAR, drag in the audio from the plugin into your project and then load the project in your 32 bit version of SONAR.

No you don't need a new account. Any single sign on Cakewalk account can be used to log in to the momentum cloud. In fact its preferable to use the same account since all your products will stay together. You should be able to login with the same account on both the phone and PC. Make sure you are entering your user id and password exactly the same way on Android. You could test by entering the user id on the cakewalk website in a web browser on Android and see if you can log in... Regarding the 0 ideas issue I'm not sure why thats happening. How many ideas do you see in the idea space view and does it show that you are successfully logged in? Could you turn on logging in the settings and send me a link to your log file via PM?

Ok then. Any time table as to when Cakewalk is going to abandon 32 bit Sonar since it's just us 2 precenters? My daw under XP was quite a fortress I didn't want to rebuild so I upgraded from XP -> windows 7 via 3rd party upgrade tools. When I went to 10, naturally I got 32bit. So here I sit, happy, but constrained to 4gb of 32 bitness. I'll do, and have the means to cross-grade this setup to 64 bit. But thought I could wait y'alls out as it's going to be a thing to do so.
