Cheesy Vocal Synth from 80s?

There was this vocal preset in maybe one of those casio calculator/synths - real airy.  I think Stereolab used it in an early album.  It was a very breathy vocal sound with no adjustments.

Does this ring a bell to anyone?  I am looking for something that does that sound.

Thanks

    Roland VP-330 Vocoder Plus?

I was never able to afford it, nor justify the bedroom space for the limited sound range.
And I hated the "Paraphonic" limitation.

No J it was definitely a Casio and I think it was one of those calculator synths (what a concept!!!) or maybe it was one of the plastic samplers they made.

It was an airy but somehwhat staccato sample of a femaile "ahhh".  You could play somewhat fast parts with that sample due to the quick envelopes.

You might want to google/bing casio synth VSTi. There are a couple of Casio synths in VSTis so maybe you can find that sound.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

thanks Mario. Will try.  I searched sample libraries but it is so hard to get a view on how those actually sound.  And by nature you cannot download a sample library on trial.

The sound was ubiquitous.  Heard it on commercials and songs and I am pretty sure one of my Stereolab LPs has it on one tune.  I thought it was Space Age Bachelor Pad Music, but nope.

I had great interest in Casio's synths back then.
But the OP is not referring to the SK and FZ / ZZ samplers.

The VL calculators just had beep tones, with the VL1 (and VL10?)
    being the exceptions.

But the five presets on Casio's VL1 are nasal and in no way "airy".
Fantasia on the VL1 bears no resemblance to the Roland sound of the same name.

I have now done some research out of nostalgia prompted by the OP, but
I cannot find any Casio product that matches the OP's description.

...unless I completely misunderstood "vocal" and the OP is thinking of the
    Speak 'n' Spell?
But that was Depeche Mode, and the item was by Texas Instruments.

I had the Casio VL Tone when I was a kid. I still had it years later when I started recording and used it a couple of times, but it was in bits by then and powered by a couple loose wires connected to a battery pack. A few years ago I saw one in a charity shop and my then girlfriend bought it for me as a gift. Then we split up and she took it with her. How I miss her now - the VL Tone not the girlfriend!

Splat, Win 10 64bit and all sorts of musical odds and sods collected over the years, but still missing a lot of my old analogue stuff I sold off years ago.

Maybe it was their sampler and not their calculator. I may be getting mixed up and i am definitely getting old.  I am 21 - base 30.
