Chez Joséphine

One of the best memories of our summers in NY was a place called Chez Joséphine on 42nd, a few minute walk from home. One of the very best steaks I've eaten in my life, if not downright THE best.
 
Cirque employees had a discount and we ate there all the time, and Jean-Claude, a colourful, flamboyant character, always greeted us personally, in French.
 
I've just heard news of his death via Facebook - apparently, many of our friends will also mourn him.

I hope Chez Joséphine lives on - I'd hate to think that I'll never eat one of those Steak Frites again.
