Chimes - solved, and sample uploaded
I don't see any in EWQL or Dim Pro. Am I just missing something? I actually have a real set, but it's too loud to record them now. I thought for sure they'd be in some software I have. OK, just recorded my bar chimes and put them on soundclick. If anyone wants the wav file for some reason, just let me know. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=789731&songID=11204636

There are a couple of patches in Dim Pro, in 'Dimensions', called 'Aliased Chimes', don't know if they would suit.

janet - chimes are typically part of a drum or percussion SET, not necessarily a library of their own. I don't have EWQL, so I don't know what sounds come with it, but if it has a percussion kit then look in there. otherwise, TTS-1 will have them in the drum kits, GPO might have some in the "Assorted Percussion Toys"; EZDrummer might have some in one of the expansions

Yes, I looked all over EWQL and Dim Pro and tried everything that remotely 'looked' like chimes. Never thought to look in EZD....I'll try that, even though I don't have that many expansion kits. Otherwise, I may break down and try to record my own.

Janet, I have a 'one shot' chime loop if you want it. You can drag and drop it into Dim Pro (I know 'cos I just tried it), it doesn't sound bad. PM me your email if it's of interest.

You just made it sound that way, Reece. :) But you know me...I seem to have trouble with even the easy things. Fortunately I finally figured out a few things. :) JC...seriously? I don't remember seeing that. I'll have a look. Thanks. (I may need to put some reading glasses at my DAW now...) Thanks James. I'll do that if these things don't work. Well, just send it anyway: janet dot wohlgemut at gmail dot com.

JC...thanks...I'd found those, but these are the type of chimes I had in mind. They're probably called something different.... http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=789731&songID=11204636 But on these samples that I recorded, you can hear the one on the end clicking on the upright bar. I tried holding that one so it wouldn't click, but then the next one did. Maybe this is a cheap version and there's no way around it. Any way to eq that clacking out of there? Or do I need to find another set or a sample? Danny....don't tell anyone what my address is, K? ;) Hey, I tried that link and it doesn't work. ....got it figured out and the new samples are in the first post.

Hmm, that's weird Janet....you're right it doesn't work, yet when I go back to that link going to it manually...it works. Try this one. http://www.quikquak.com/downloads.html and look for Bar Chimes. -Danny (P.S. Email safe with me!)

Or do I need to find another set or a sample? Ok, I hear what you mean now. That would be a "bar chime". And even though you can fix it, I would look elsewhere. The "Latin Percussions" EZX from Toontrack has 3 kinds of chimes (including the bar chime). And they sound pretty good too, or... see if Danny's suggestion above fits your needs. Let me know if that doesn't work out.

Thanks Danny. Got the link to work. :) Yeah, JC, I didn't really know what they were called. (obviously) . :) I have the Latin Percussion (I think!), so I'll check there too.

I call 'em wind chimes. In any event, all the sampled versions sound to consistent/controlled for my taste. Gimme some chaos!

I can probably do chaos without trying. But the chaos of wind chimes messes with my mind more than a roomful of 2 year olds.

OK, I finally got these things recorded like I like them. Reece...they're standing upright and there are posts on either side, so it sits on a little stand. I imagine if you'd play them in a 5th grade band, it would be fine, but it sounds terrible miked. Once I saw a picture of free-hanging ones online I knew what I had to do. I'm so proud of myself. :) JC...unreal...those bar chimes in Latin Percussion don't work...it's just a tom or something. Odd. Actually, par for the course for me, but odd. Anyway, thanks you guys! Now I guess I HAVE to use bar chimes for this new masterpiece whether they sound good in it or not. :)

Wind chimes.... to me, are soothing. I have some that hang outside the bedroom window, right beside the back porch deck. On a breezy night........ sweet dreams.... I do think they might reach the chaotic level in a hurricane so I do take them down..... not that I wouldn't want to hear what that might sound like..... I just think that metal tube projectiles are not a good thing to have hanging around in a big storm like that.

Someone just wrote me on this thread asking for the wav file (I got the email notification.) I can't see your post here on this forum though. But if you can read this, I'll have to check...not sure if I still have that, or if I recorded them going 'down.' It's been a long while since I've recorded anything...
