Choice in computer

Please move this thread wherever it is most applicable. My ex-wife got my computer in the divorce. I need to buy a new computer. Can anyone tell me if there is a ~$600.00 computer that exists that runs cakewalk products fairly well? I've utilized Cakewalk quite a bit, and I want to maximize the experience with a budget in mind. I've used Professional 7, but I'll probably upgrade soon. Any input is appreciated.

thanks!

for $600 i would build my own if your capable. For $890 i built a screaming quad core q6600 2.4 ghz pc with 3 hard drives and 4 gigs of kick butt ram
You can defintily build a sweet dual core pc for under $600. Building one is easier than you think.

Might want to start with a "barebones" type system. They include all the parts, then you put it together. It's twice the machine for half the money. Example:

I'm stuck in the past, but my foot's tapping forward

Here at home I use an HP. YOu can get them cheap and they are pretty good (just don't try to dual boot them). Also, you'll want to trick it out some - at least a second hard drive, probably a dual head video card, stuff like that.

And sorry to hear about the divorce. Bummer.
