Christmas Piano Music- Oh Holy Night

Another of my favorite traditional Christmas songs." Oh Holy Night". No orchestral additions,no edits. One of the things I like about piano is that it can cover pretty much all the necessary parts without much else needed.

I appreciate any comments either way and thanks for listening!- Tim

Hey Tim, it's not easy to record the piano, but you seem to have captured the richness the instrument.  That's one of my all time favorite Christmas carols, and I applaud you for tackling this song.  That being said, I sometimes didn't "grok" the arrangement, but that's just a matter of personal taste. Overall, a job well done.

    All the best,

Funny you say that the piano can cover all the instruments.  So true.  Which is why I was surprised, the first couple tunes I posted here, when some of the guys said 'it needs a bass!'  And I thought, 'huh? The piano covers that!'  Now I hear what they're saying and I rarely do a tune without a bass.  lol

That being said, I still agree with you and you've done a fine job with this tune.  If you told me before I forgot...what piano vst are you using?  Or is this a miked piano?  Either way...nice sound!

Lynn- Thanks for listening. I appreciate your comments.

Janet- Maybe by next year I'll add an orchestral arrangement to this or at least a couple of extra parts.Do you add  electric bass to your parts? I'm trying to remember. I appreciate your comments. I am presently using Pianissimo.  It seems to fit well in a lot of what I have been doing. Initially I play the part through a Yamaha Motif and then copy the midi to Pianissimo to remedy the delay issues. Thanks again for all of your comments!

I usually use some sort of midi bass. (Dim Pro)  Once or twice I've enlisted the help of a real bass player around here.  :)  I'm learning to play the bass now, but right now it's so much easier to play it on the keyboard than try to figure out how to record a real one, let alone play it well enough to record.  Maybe I'll try that by next year.  :)  I think I remember reading about Pianissimo, but it's been awhile.  It's nice!

It is without a doubt "the architypical Christmas song." This is the grand daddy of Christmas songs... (After walkin round in women's underwear of course? That goes without saying...) I enjoyed your version. Merry Christmas!!

Now if you heard this in an island chain, while dining outside... Would it be?

The architypical Christmas song, in an archipelago, while dining alfresco?

Hi Tim. This is very nice in both performance and tone. That wierd tone that occured in "What Child" jumps out again at :52 and 3:36 most notably. It's wierd because the piano sounds great across the board otherwise. It's almost like that tone shows itself when a key is hit full velocity and a particular key has it's velocity stuck on full at all times or something. Really great job just the same. Merry Christmas.

Janet- Yes a lil bass doesn't hurt now and then when necessary:) I am learning bass too, but it hasn't come off of my guitar hook for at least a month...I guess I slowly learning bass.

     Beagle,Scott- Thank you for listening!

Bandontherun- Yes thats seems a fitting description. I'm working on an original Christmas tune that likely won't make it to completion this year. The song is complete, but the vocals and mix need work...I'm trying to break away from typical. Thanks for listening!!

Rhynosynth- Thanks for your comments. I am having some problems with velocity( I'm not moving at all right now, but that's not what  mean't).I think it is a matter of me getting more familiar with those adjustments when I need to use them. Thanks.

notnat and Bapu- Thank you for listening and commenting.

Superb playing with skills i could never equal in a hundred years.

It sounded like some of the mid frequencies could be cut a bit, but i'm no expert, so take that with a pich of salt.

An excellent rendition of this tune.
