Christmas Song: Christmas Time Is Here [Peanuts/Charlie Brown]

Hey everyone,

Don't remember when I did this one. Gettin' old I guess. :( I think 2001ish but not sure.

Instruments:

Lead Guitar: 1984 Jap. Fender Strat. W/EMG Gold pickups.
Digitech RPX-7 (Real tube pre-amp) effects unit.
TTS-1 for the rest.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Time Is Here [From Peanuts/Charlie Brown Christmas]

That's cool your going to put it in your collection, thanks!

I noticed that it was kind of loud too. I set the output to -2db and tried to limit it so there was no more than 2db being compressed. I lost the CWB many moons ago, all I have left is this mixdown. I tried to master it a little but I think it's too late to correct anything in it now.

I like your hat too btw. Very festive. :)

I was just commenting on Ian Ferrin's tune that Charlie Brown Christmas was one of my favorite tunes.  His piano kinda evoked that feeling.  Then---- farther down the page I find this. This is very nicely done too.  It sounds great!  I like JohnnyV's hat deal!!!!!

Hey Bub. This is great. I don't know if you've ever heard it butSteve Vai did a nice take on this as well.  I also listened to "Carol of the Guitars" and "Rosie Jones". You really like to mix it up and fantastic guitar playing. I remember your pic from the day of the dead. He was in the military I believe.

Johnnyv I'm so sorry! :( :( :( I've been doing that a lot the last few years. I meant to type hat not hate. I went back and edited it. I don't know if I'm getting old or what. I always have to double/triple check of what I type because a lot of times I type things that I'm not thinking, like whole words that just don't make any sense. :(

    notat: Thanks for compliments! :)

    evadianepug: Thanks!

rhynosynth: Never heard Stevie Vai do it, I'll check it out. Yeah, Bub was the ex-military guy. Someone just posted a club mix and had Frankenstein talking in it. Frankenstein was the nickname of the guy who was training Bub in the movie.

mgh: Thanks man! That means a lot coming from you, I love your playing. I feel horrible about the hat/hate thing.

Cool, I can't read so where even!
You inspired me to do a hat, I love it, How else could we so simply spread a little Christmas cheer around this sometimes way to serious place. I don't have a picture of me I like so I drew a very exact likeness in paint. I lost my front crown the other day so it's keeping me from smiling ( and over eating goodies! )

Really nice, like the tremolo on the guitar.  You did a great job working the TTS1 for the rest of the mix

johnnyv: Thanks for being understanding. I really did feel bad about it. It looks like the hat trend is catching on. :)

thalweg: Thank you. Unfortunately my RPX-7 died, I haven't been able to get that sound since. :( As for TTS-1, it's amazing what you can do if you bounce midi to wav and do some compression and add a little reverb/eq. TTS-1 is old, but still very usable.

I like TTs1 because it's more or less all I've ever had in the past. Like you say if you know how to tweak it - it's as good as anything else. Nobody ever used out of the box presets in the "old day's" did they? We always had to customize patches, the TTs1 is no different.

Wow what a nice sounding arrangement.  That guitar sound is great.  Makes me wanna go out and get a sad lil' ol' christmas branch and put presents under it Charlie Brown style.

    Great job!

One of the sadder sounding christmas tunes..... not your version... just the feel of the song..... lonely......

good job... you gotta keep an eye on those CWB's they will slip out the back door if you're not watching.

Thank you everyone for all the great feedback.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. We had 8" of snow here last night and it's still coming down. My wife and I went for a drive in the ol' 4 wheel drive sleigh and took some pictures.

This is beautiful. Very well played!

Snow?  It was almost 70 here today, which I much prefer.  Although your pictures are beautiful.  (too bad it can't be 70 when it's snowing..)  :)
