Classic View/Tool Bar Customization in X1

Not trying to beat a dead horse here but I wanted to comment on this.

This thread got locked a few hours ago with an invite to start a new one as long as it stayed on topic, so lets hope it goes that way ... or just ignore me and let it fade away to page 2.

The OP was frustrated that he just got X1 and discovered customization of the Tool Bar was completely removed. He was responded to with ... you should have known what you were buying and it's your fault if your not happy and go use a 3rd party application. BTW, that 3rd party application disqualifies you from technical support and in any other situation would void any warranty.

Here's the problem as I see it. Nobody ever said, arguably the #1 feature of Sonar, which was customization ability, was going to be removed in X1. It was such a huge part of Sonar, personally, I would never have dreamed that something like that would be removed.

Ok ... what's done is done. So let's move forward ...

Tool Bar customization needs to be brought back. Even if it's only one module that can be customized, it needs to be brought back ...

Thanks,

Bub.

    Not true.

At no point in that thread did Seth suggest the OP use a 3rd party app.

The idea that "you should have known what you were buying and it's your fault if your not happy" was not forwarded by any Cakewalk representative and was in fact made by another user.

Seth also commented that customisation was a feature which he and other Cake employees would like to see returned in a future update, so I fail to see why you've started another thread which will no doubt descend into anarchy just like several others recently.

Bristol is correct, the 'you should have known ...' argument came from a poster here on the forums, not myself or any other Cakewalk employee.

As for the topic at hand, again this is a legit feature request and it is my sincerest hope that we can get these features back into SONAR and maybe even make them somehow better than they were before. Frankly speaking, I don't know how difficult this is to do and I don't really know if/ when its going to happen. Just rest assured that there's a number of us in the company who want it back in and we'll push, prod, and try as best we can within reason to make this happen.

My gut tells me that these changes would require a lot of work so I wouldn't expect them in a free maintenance update like an X1d or X1e or whatever may come down the road. I'm guessing these features would reemerge in maybe the next major version of SONAR, if we're lucky.

I just want to be real with you guys so you at least have some realistic expectations about if and when this might happen. Again, might is the key word, but lest certainly hope it does.

I never said you told the OP that Seth. I purposely didn't mention a name so this thread wouldn't turn in to an attack fest on a particular individual. But it looks like that's what ended up happening anyway.

Do not quote me as saying something I didn't say again please.

In the meantime, There's an alternative that gives much of this back... So for the temporary relief, just use it and be patient, eh? It's working for me. I've lost much of my need for the toolbars ...

Don't get me wrong. I long to have it back, built into Sonar and with great hopes of it being more improved instead of removed....

Thanks Seth... Some very well spoken words...

Just trying to have a non confrontational conversation here John, which seems to be almost impossible with some of the people who frequent and moderate this forum.
    "LOL"
I don't see anything funny about this at all. Especially since I told Seth I would be upgrading in October ... and he knows the problems I have had with their software ...

You would think he would be a little more friendly?

Seth may know about your ongoing problems or he may not. As for being friendly I don't see any unfriendliness on his part.

One thing I do know is you have a great sense of humor. But it seems to have forsaken you at the moment. That is understandable, though, I think. I wouldn't get upset with any of this.

I'd like to see something of that nature come back as well...the idea that one could customize  the control bar is, to me, something to look forward to...what I would really like to see is full customisation..now that would be something
