Clean Install - can't choose install path for Rapture Program and Presets
I'm moving my Sonar environment to a new machine, and migrating to Windows 10 and 64 bit. I have a relative small SSD for the OS and programs, and a 5 TB drive for content. I started by installing Sonar, and selected a path on the 5 TB drive (D:) instead of the "C:\Cakewalk Content" default. Now I'm installing Rapture. It lets me select my D: drive for Multisamples, but "Programs and Presets" is set to "C:\Cakewalk Content" and it is grayed out and I can't change it. There is no "C:\Cakewalk Content" folder currently, and I don't want one created.

go to ccc/settings/ paths and change it there, ccc will move all the content to the drive/folder you choose

Did you set the content path on the Paths tab in Command Center settings?

Thanks for the help. I had set the Command Center path, but forgot to restart. After restarting Rapture will go to my other drive. However I'm noticing that there are 800 MB of samples at "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\Session Drummer 3\Contents" I wasn't asked where to save those samples. It looked like ArtistInstrumentCollectionSetup also went to the C: drive and didn't ask me.

I think that with more and more folks opting to have an SSD as their primary drive (C:), and then some other configuration between SSD/HDD for additional drives, that program install scripts for music-related applications have a still developing need to 'get with the times' on allowing users the option of setting target paths for content, particularly sample content. It is getting there, in general, but there are indeed application installers that could use some tweaking to allow alternate content destination paths to be set in the install scripts. Bob Bone

If you did the SD3 install using the Command Center, and checked the verbose install box, doesn't that put it through its long install, with you being the one that decides where to install that software? I KNOW there is a way to move it, because I DID it, some time ago. Just cannot recall what I did, the wee hours are making me very very sleepy. I WILL look into this when I get up in 2 1/2 hours. Same here, my SD samples are on my giant external samples drive. I might have done the mk link thing... BTW - if you used SD2 and are moving up to SD3, make sure you check out the Friday's Tip of the Week for Week 23.
