Click track set up ?

Hey,

Idiot question, but I just started recording live tracks, did mostly midi before, and the guitarist asked if he could have a click track on his headphones to play to. Didn't know exactly how set it up, so it just goes into his headphones and doesn't go through the monitors or my head phones. Any help?

So you want the click track to go to the guitarist, but to not hear it yourself?
I don't think you can do that within SONAR; it's up to the 24/96 and it's routing capabilities.
Does it have multiple outputs? Do all the outputs show up in SONAR?
Does the 24/96 have a mixer window where you can change routing?
With my Saffire, I can send different mixes to each headphone output (2), and with it's 8 total outputs, I could send different mono tracks to 8 different outputs.

That is possible but it is dependent on your interface. You'll need more than one stereo output to start with so that the guitarist headphone feed is on a separate output from others. There are several ways of routing but here's one that will suit the 'normal' default setup.

You'll need to set up a buss let's call it "GT Cue Mix" with its output assigned to an output that you can use for for the guitarists headphone out. (I use a couple of channels on my mixer), then insert sends on all your tracks to that buss (pre fader if you want a completely separate mix). Also insert a pre-fader send on the metronome buss to "GT Cue Mix" turn the Metronome buss fader down and you should be good to go.

I insert sends on my busses, rather than all the individual tracks to outputs 3/4 of my interface.

These come up on my desk and from there to my headphone amp
