Clicks n pops Sonar 8.3.1.372

I'm just attempting to get this pc all sorted before we get back into recording and i've been using the Dark European Space Adventure demo as a tester just to see whats happening.
Im getting constant clicks and pops through out playback?

System specs.
Processor = i7 930
Ram = 6gb Corsair XMS3 1600tc
HD 1 = Sata 2 160gb Seagate (Os drive)
HD 2 = Sata 3 640gb WD Caviar Black (Songs)
HD 3 = Sata 3 640gb WD Caviar Black (Samples)
GFX = Nvidia 7600gt
Soundcard = M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8r

Im currently running in WDM mode 24bit 96khz at 2.7ms, I run this normally without any issues under windows XP Pro, but Windows 7 is being a biatch.
I've heard something about disabling the network card, my only worry is that if i need to verify any plugins, the computer id will change (will it not?) thus requiring me to re-auth and waste keys?

I have gone through most optimizations i can find on here, next may be disabling some items in the BIOS?

Also i was wondering if it would benefit the system if i disabled the usb ports that i am not using?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    DPC latency showing no spikes, and absolute max of 136 with that demo running.

    More issues >..< im starting to hate m-audio, win7 and sonar as a combo >.<
    Really want to get back onto making music, members of the band breathing down my neck, yet know ****e all about computers or software to be of any use other than peck away at me whilst attempting to sort this out.

    I can't get midi when my soundcard is set to 96k sample rate
    I can't get one of our tracks playing back at the right speed even though the soundcard and audio file properties match (no audiosnap or v-vocal to mess it up) Changing BPM shifts everything.
    I had this problem moons ago, i cannot remember what resolved it. But its back again to  haunt me.

    Did you try ASIO mode?

    In windows 7, if you're using WDM or WASAPI I've found that you have to make sure all your audio settings are set just right in the Windows sound control panel. It's such a pain, I'd suggest only using ASIO mode in Sonar. The other modes are just trouble.

    I've heard something about disabling the network card,

    that's likely it right there.  Either that or the power saving.  Disable the network card in device manager, and  turn off all the services related to it.   Your plugs should work..if not..re auth with it disabled.  worth it to not get clicks.

    Also,  disable any power saving features.  Both inside windows and your bios (if u can).

    May as well turn off (disable) any other services and devices ur not using.

    No...
    But make sure that power-management is not enabled for the USB ports.  This will cause problems.

    I'd first make sure you're running the latest drivers for the FastTrack Ultra 8R.
    Then, I'd switch to ASIO mode in Sonar.

    FWIW, I use a FastTrack Ultra 8R in my live rig (running Win7x64).
    I'm playing four hour gigs (using about a dozen soft-synths) running the FastTrack Ultra 8R at a 64-sample ASIO buffer size.
    Absolutely no glitches...

    What motherboard are you using?

    Motherboard is gigabyte x58-ud3

    I've tried ASIO/WDM/WASAPI, not difference there. Still am unable to get midi to run into anything whilst in 96k samplerate.
    I completely removed the sound card, found it's hidden install paths and cleared those also.

    The FTU8R is also showing driver issues when switched to HIgh performance mode (as has been noted on the site)

    Also, yesterday i decided to try load up a few plugins in sonar at 44.1, not an issue until i pressed play in sonar only to find a really laggy interface.

    Just to note, power saving and ability to turn off devices is disabled

    Have you disabled all power-management?
    When you run msconfig at the run prompt, what's listed under the Startup tab?

    If you run the demo tune at 44.1k, I assume that it's glitch-free?
    The lag that you're experiencing is likely due to latent plugins added to the mix.
    Convolution reverb and "mastering" type plugins often impart additional latency.

    What happens if you load the demo tune in safe mode (sans plugins)?

    Wait...
    That project was recorded at 44.1k... correct?
    If so, that's the problem.  Sonar doesn't do realtime SR conversion.
    Convert the files to 96k... then playback the project at 96k.

    Just booting up DAW, will be right back atcha with the information you require now :)
    Playback on the demo project isn't slow. Its a project that was previously recorded in sonar, in here and for some reason its slower than it should be, by about 5bpm i'd say.

    The demo project itself plays fine, but upon having a nose now, it seems that the nowtime bar that follows playback, and general GUI is very stuttery. Even though the track plays fine at 44.1

    I'm pretty sure the problem is the result of the project being recorded at 44.1k... and trying to play that back at 96k.
    If you switch to ASIO driver mode, I'm going to guess the project won't play at all.
    It's a sample-rate mis-match.

    If you convert the audio files to 96k, I'll bet the project plays just fine...

    Soundcard was set at 44.1 to test demo project.
    No motorboating, clicks or pops, but laggy GUI.

    With the FTU 8R, i can't even use 96k...midi input dissapears.

    Here is the IRQ list.... M-Audio is on IRQ 23 as highlighted, although i've tried in various ports with no luck.

    Still baffled by this problem.

    Unable to use High Performance mode so unable to use 64 buffer.
    Can get midi fine all the way upto 88.1k, but no midi in anything at 96k.
    Start-up, I have nothing in msconfig starting up, had to remove the m-audio taskbar start up as it was causing problems with opening and closing and holding onto drivers.

    Bands getting inpatient and im having a bloody nightmare with it all.
