Clip Tail Duration in Preferences

Good Day,

Im just trying to confirm/clarify if I should be setting Clip Tail Duration preference to some nominal or preferred value other than default of zero?
From help it says, "Clip Tail Duration N Seconds. This option lets you specify how long to extend the duration of clips during export to account for effect tails, such as reverb and delay."
While I typically extend end of tracks or last clip, or end of longest track/clip to allow FX tails time to complete at end of song, I haven't been doing this with the many individual clips within tracks, many of which are directly adjacent splits, that cant be physically "extended"  if I can set this preference to some nominal or actual value to not have to extend them, then great.

What Im uncertain of is if setting this preference to some value may affect directly adjacent/following clips,in same track if Im somehow automatically extending a clip length, from where its been split and not actually extended? Like if you've split a clip add a fade to start of next clip to tame a transient or plosive, would the FX tail duration set in preferences of preceding clip somehow overlap/overwrite or affect the following clip in a bad way?
Hope this makes any sense, and/or is nothing to worry about
Any direction would be appreciated.
Cheers

Did they replace it with a new function, or is this something that can't be done in Sonar anymore?

Hey Chuck, thanks for reply Im still on 2017.06, I haven't been compelled to update since, till I finish a project but perhaps if this is a compelling reason to update, I may do so ? Im OK leaving it set at "0" and continuing as usual for now, but was wondering effect of changing it, I guess if not something in newer version, I wont waste your time with it,  but may reiterate RS 's question?

    Cheers
