Clip selection Mystery

It's been like this for a long time. I for the life of me cannot figure out how to select clips consistently in Sonar. If you select a section of a clip in 1 track then move to select something else in another track, your previous selection is still highlighted but in the new track. Also, I can't count the number of times I've clicked on a track, selecting all the clips and then go to delete and nothing happens, if I click off the track, click somewhere else, then do the exact same selection again and hit delete, it works. What is the logic and the reason for this bizarre behavior? I'm pretty fluent in many many software packages and I've never seen anything like this with any other software. I have grudgingly learned to work around it, but boy am I tired of wondering if my selection is going to work, every time I need to select something.

You only posted 50 messages since 2006. Somewhere in the forum (on top) you can see what the number of messages goes with your member status.

Bad nomenclature, really. It should say "New Poster" because status is determined by number of posts, not years of membership.

Thanks for the links, good for a handy for a refresher course, but it still doesn't explain the inconsistent behavior of the selection process.
