Clock/Sync issue with MOTU 2408

I'm having trouble with my recordings being out of sync with Sonar X1 producer X1b. I have a MOTU 2408 MKIII as my interface, no other devices connected. In preferences the 2408 is selected as the clock source, no cables are connected to the word clock in's/out's on the 2408.

When I record something, it will be slightly out of sync when played back. Usually it's a few ms late, so I drag the audio slightly to the right and line up the transients to get it back in sync. It also seems that the timing may drift a bit over time, so even if I line up the first few bars correctly, by the end of the song, it may be a bit off again. I've changed buffers to no avail. This is the first session I have done in X1, and I am recording at 32bit. It's the first time I have done that, so perhaps it's the issue?
I'm not being fooled by the recording latency. This happens whether there are 0 plugins or 50 plugins.
