Clone Tracks - Want to Frequency Split, but FXs are connected...?

I have a bassline (miditrack) that I cloned via the "Clone Track" function. The mair reason for this is that I want to split the frequency for mono compatibility.

The first thing I see is that the Pro Channel modules Tape Emulator and Console Emulator in one of the tracks don't load correctly and show the text "Load Failure"

Futhermore...

I want to deactive/delete all FX and Pro Channel modules on one of the track, and only use the EQ to split the frequency between the two tracks. However, when deactivating any of my FX or modules, te same thing happens on the other track.... When deleting an FX or Pro Channel Module, the same is deleted on the other.

Are the connected someway? How can fix this?
PS - I know that you can check the Box "Link to Original". If this is done, Can I "unlink them, but still keep my settings?

Thanks!

Don't clone an instrument track. If you must clone a track rather than copying the MIDI data to another track, split the instrument track first.

Ok, I will try that later tonight...

However, I want to keep all settings from the VST synth on that track as well as midi info. Will this follow?

If I were looking to split the frequency of a track, I would not bother to create duplicate synth tracks. An alternate way would be to create two sends from the instrument track, drop a Sonitus Multiband into each bus. Solo the low band on one instance and the high band the other instance of the Multiband setting the compression on the bands to 1:1. Then adjust the frequencies of the Mutltibands to act as a crossover.

To use tracks instead of buses add two new audio tracks with a Sonitus Gate before the Multiband in the new tracks. Set the Gate outputs to sidechain. Setup the Multibands as crossovers as before. Add sends to the Gate sidechain inputs from the instrument track.

    Hey Scook

That's some serious routing for one like me, that haven't produced that much....;) I have not used split frequencies before, but want to learn as I did see a tutorial on this. In the tutorial he used an EQ to split the frequencies (Logic), to fatten the bass, and increase mono compatibility.

I haven't used Sonitus MB at all, (an update of the GUI much needed if you ask me), but I do have Waves C6 and Vengeance Multiband Sidechain, which are MB compressors. Whats the difference/benefit of using an EQ VS a MB Compressor?

    Thanks!

Use whatever you want to split the frequencies. The Sonitus multiband suggestion was made because it bundled with SONAR and designed to break the audio into multiple frequency bands. Here is a chance to try it out. Any mutliband plug-in that can solo a single band may work as well. EQs would work too.
