I think it's really cool Tim. Very with the times for this style. You did well with it if you're not used to working/mixing this sort of thing. The only thing I'd maybe try to concentrate on....is sometimes the vocals sort of lose their impact with all the effects. Especially the one that goes a little AM radio sounding. The other thing is...though I'm fully aware of the stuff/effects that go on with this style and I like and accept the song just the way you delivered it, the voice sounds so computer sounding that it doesn't really have a distinct quality about it...if that makes sense?

Like usually, when guys sing this style, there are times when you can actually hear their voice a little behind all the effects. This one sort of sounds effected all through it to where any voice would suffice. Does that make sense at all? Like...there are no vocal characteristics that would make this artist stick out as unique other than I think the song/writing is great, or if you were marketing him to be some sort of "effect machine" where that would be his thing. You know...never really hearing the actual voice, the effects and production are the selling points along with good song writing and hooks. That's the best way I can explain it and I honestly don't mean any of that to sound harsh.

Absolutely love how it gets heavy and changes drums and has some rock lines in it! That was brilliant and something I always wished people doing this style would dive into more often. Something about those heavy drums coming in that just brings the piece to the next level. A little rock edge is killer for stuff like this. So I trhink you have something cool here. But you may want to try and decide if you want to have some sort of real vocal sound minus all the effects so he's a bit more distinct, or you go with the whole effect thing as "his thing". Either way it's cool in my opinion. Just some stuff to think about. Nice job bro!

Tim, this is a joy to listen to.  The way this is woven together is very crafty.  I understand what Danny is saying about the voice, yet, not having heard the raw track, this may have been the best option.  Styles change much faster than I do, but you seem to be on top of things.  I'll be listening to this several more times.

    All the best,

    VERY cool production Tim.
It would be great to hear a more stripped back mix with more emphasis on the drum/bass/vocal too. Come on - Dubstep remix

I'm torn. On the one hand I like the song just the way it is. On the other the "autotune" effect is not quite right and it sounds more like a early ninties vocorder than modern AT. I like it. But... if I were producing it, I would correct that. Now... I will confess I have no idea how from a technical stand point. I have never used autotune.

    Thanks Danny.

I think I get what you're saying about the voc.
I had to do quite a bit of wizardry to actually even have a vocal track. LOL. The talented young wipper snapper wouldn't give me what I needed/wanted. So, I sort of created it from what I had to work with. Good to know that it didn't work. That's sort of what I was wondering. Glad you liked the rock stuff. Actually, Just more filler IMO:)

It works but I hear the stops and react a bit on them - next time I hear it, it will not react on me. That said, its a very good production I will like it;-)

I never work with "wipper snappers"... especially young ones...

I'm not crazy about the song, or the lead vocal, but the production is a work of art... really top shelf... arrangement, instrumentation, background vocals, orchestration, all work fantastically... Lead Guitar is perfect...

Thanks Mr. Robbay.. I keep trying. That's pretty amazing in itself maybe..

    Hey Lynn. Thanks .
I think "Best option" hits it on the head:) It is hard to keep up indeed.

Hi jsaras. Thanks for holding the bag a little:)

Hey daryl. Yea, I've tried that. At least I think I did as I don't really have a clue what dubstep is. Or, for that matter, if I need to:) I couldn't get it to work stripped down though. I find stripped down anything (except women) is pretty hard to get right..

Hi Mr. Foxw. FWIW it was Melodyne. Which, imo, doesn't quite get the autotune sound.  I think it may sound 90s because I'm usually at least a decade behind.

Mr. Robbay. It is ALL GOOD isn't it? Just ask Frank..

    Thanks Old55

GREAT piece!  The mix sounds wonderful.  It's funny to hear how much synth is being used in todays music.  Sounds like a harder version of Owl City.  KUDOS GENTS!

Too many old farts around here who hate that kind of music. OK, that includes me. I won't be loading it onto my iPod. Later today I'll run it past a grandchild for an informed musical opinion.

BUT we're all about production and engineering here - we're not music critics! And the production is wonderful. Props to you, Tim; I'd be reluctant to even take on a project like that.

Hi Gary. Thanks for all the listens. I looked at Soundclick today and it said 40, 318 listens. Was that you?.....

Hey Kev, Thanks for the listen and Kudos. It's mostly VSTi's. Er, if that's what you mean. Actually though, I think one of the basses was the Roland JV1080. Still like that synth.

Thanks James. Yea, I can never decide what I'm doing.....

HA. Ok Bit. Thanks man. Yea, I like to produce in any style. And, I appreciate good productions in pretty much any genre. If I hadn't produced this, I would probably hate it (the song/style:)  Actually, Not many things that I would listen to for enjoyment any more. (One of which is "Soldier" BTW.....)
It's just more curiosity I think.
I look forward to your grandchild's response...

Quirky and hip.  I've always loved the romantic 'sounds' of auto-tune R&B and this delivers the romantic ... sweetly and robustly ... while the message is not my cuppa.

Eko: I told you the next time I probably wont here it I think its about that the girl voice goes down for ex. at 0,36 and another vocal take over and that's the stop I refer to. It happens the same thing during the song several time - but as I said I can live with it - don't bother about it - its a grate production.

When I heard you name come up Tim I had to have a listen.

I will echo mostly with what other people have said.

The production is SPECTACULAR and I went back for another listen because of it. So many layers, sounds,Polyphonics, a work of art.

BTW the rock fusion is one of the highlights.

I do like this genre and its done very well, but like most, the lead vox is what gives it character and its not there, sounds just like another digital synth mixed in the bed. Just lacks a human touch.

...but I guess your side of the work is done.
