Clytie

Hi Peeps,

I've been struggling on the music creation front since the end of last year, when I released my last piece called Thank You.

Clytie is my most recent creation. It was originally twelve minutes long but I felt that this was much too long for what is quite a minimal piece in terms of parts and composition.

There is a background drone which I created by recording six separate takes from my modular synth and feeding it through various effects, including Adaptiverb.

Then there is a single melody line that I improvised and edited down to "just" six minutes. I like the sound in the lower register really, so it is quite a bass driven melody. I also used my modular for this part too.

Again, like much of my stuff, this won't be everyone's cup of tea...

Cheers

I could almost see this being part of a sci fi movie or game soundtrack.  Or even music played during a massage.  Very relaxing.

Hello mate - I really like this - it has a really positive vibe.
It also has some really nice movement. It was worth the wait. I'm on my second listen while I work.

Hi Andy, I was hoping to hear something new from you. Been thinking about doing something a little ambient sounding myself next month (with guitars) and you do this stuff really well, good to get some inspiration. 'Clytie' is very hopeful sounding, and didn't seem anything like 6 minutes.

Aye, I've been struggling of late.

I really look forward to hearing your guitar ambient piece, that would be awesome. I've not even taken my PRS Studio off it's hanger in 2017, which is really sad. I think I need to remedy that...

I guess in the past I had hoped for my "talent" to spotted but, at 56, I've kinda given up now, so I create stuff for myself and hope that a few others across the world also enjoy what I am doing.

Thanks again for your kind comments Mark, I really appreciate it

Technique employed here is nice and simple... It has to be, as my skills are somewhat limited. And as for the Happy Music tag, I tend to use this a lot for anything I create in the key of C major
