Come Together

Any tips on getting that drum sound? that tom sounds like it has a blanket laying on it.

    calfskin heads - Ringo used calfskins for that song. Of course, as you mentioned, you can probably synthesize that sound with towels or something over the heads.

    Funny you should bring this up. A couple of days ago I was at my local library and they had that Abby Road sessions book. Every recording session the Beatles did at Abby Road and what they did while they were there. The amount of detail is incredible. Those engineers literally documented every minute in the studio. And they had access to the original master tapes so all the takes were documented too.

    They didn't go into as much detail about the recording gear or techniques (there is another book out now about that). But lot's of cool pics and talk about their time in the studio. Worth checking out!

    I used a muffler ring and a beanie baby on the tom! lol

    dude, that sounds good to me. The cymbols are a tiny bit loud maybe, but thats about it.

    I agree that cymbals could come down a bit in the mix, but I think you certainly captured the sound.
