Command Center Downloads?

Hi everybody,

I really need to reclaim some space on my 256 GB SSD C Drive and Command Center Downloads is taking about 54 GB at the moment.  Is it OK to remove all the stuff in there?  I wasn't sure if those were just installers or did they actually run anything.  I do of course have backups elsewhere.

Thanks,

Donny

As long as you have the latest versions you should be good to go. Check the dates on the files if you don't know the version numbers.

No need to keep them in their default location. If you have more room on another drive, move them over there. Or leave them on an external drive or DVD backup. If you ever need to re-install, those installers can be run from any location.

If you think you might ever run CCC again, configure it to save any future downloads to the new location. (Click on the gear icon, then the Paths tab, and type the new location into the "Download Path" textbox.)

There are other ways to free up space on your SSD, such as moving the Windows paging device to another drive and moving SONAR-related sample folders (e.g. Dimension Pro, Studio Instruments) elsewhere. I freed up 12 GB from my C: drive doing the latter.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Also run DISK CLEANUP utility in Windows every so often, go advanced and remove windows updates cr*p that is left there in case you ever want to downgrade after an update. Do this if you are happy with the way windows is running, you WILL retrieve huge amounts of space in gigabyte terms

I copy the whole folder to my Data drive as well as store it on a external. As of November if everything is up to date this will be it and these are worth keeping safe. I have  6 copies now.
Because the folder will no longer be needed I just deleted the whole folder.
The worst offenders are the content libraries for VST's instruments. I've left some of them alone but most are on my Data drives.

    Hey guys,

Thanks SO much for the comments.  Totally appreciated!  I discovered that BackBlaze was not backing up .exe's.  I've fixed that and I'll also be moving these off to another location.

    Thanks again!
