Command8 with Sonar

Has anyone had any luck making Digidesigns Command8 work with Sonar? I'v installed the drivers, gone through the midi learn steps but the Command8 really keeps acting irrationally. At first the on screen faders were jumping up and down, the pans were going wild and pretty much nothing worked as it should. The Command8 LCD window has been reading "Offline" all the time but in a later try I manage to get control over a fader at least.I thought for a while that I had gotten the play and stop functions down as well but that only lasted for a few seconds where after it would only play back for a second until it stopped again.

You might be wondering why I'm using Digidesign here. It's simply because a 002 rack and the Command8 I'm trying to get to work have been included in a rig I've shared with a couple of friends. Now, we've decided to to sell the stuff so I'm thinking about buying them out.

Is there anyone with some experience in making control surfaces work or who understands how ACT works?

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

The command won't work for you with Sonar, even with ACT. Get a Mackie Control instead.

Oh, I see. Well.... then maybe I'll skip the control surface and go for a good mouse/keyboard/Shuttle Pro thing.

You wouldn't happen to know whether the Digidesign 002 rack works with Sonar?

It's too bad Digi made the Command 8 a proprietary unit, but that was their call. While the 002 is not proprietary, it doesn't work too well with Sonar. It's ASIO drivers will only let you use Sonar with the multi-processing engine disabled. In other words, no matter how many cpu's or cores you have in your machine, the 002 will only let you use one of them.

    Bleh.

I'd recommend getting an RME, MOTU, ir Lynx interface.

    Good luck.

    OK, I see.

Thanks for the information. I guess I'll go for a Motu interface in the end - I always liked their products. I'll check out Lynx too though, I haven't heard that much about them.

how about the 003s or the new mboxes, will they also require you to disable multi processor?
