Comment and question...

FWIW... the wait for this amp (Mesa Boogie Mark V) was WELL worth the wait. It is the best amp I have every played through. I learn something new everytime I turn it on.. and time flies when I play with it. Unfortunatley... it is NOT a cure for GAS. I now want one of the new Line 6 amps (and an SG of course). The Amplifi 150 http://line6.com/ . What a great idea it is. I used to be a subscriber to Toneport online and learned a lot. It seems that they still have all the presets, songs, etc from the Toneport online days and you can download them to use with a Toneport UX or Flextone or POD. I cannot find support for my original POD though. It truly is an original that I updated to POD II but they seem to not support it. Don't matter since I have the UX-2 and POD Farm. Anyway, I am going to spend some time with the UX-2 and Customtone (one the Line 6 site (this looks cool too: ( http://www.jammit.com/ ) .. which brings me to the question!...

I have POD Farm activated and POD Farm 2 that is not. I do not remember when or how I got POD Farm 2 but I don't seem to have an activation code. Did it come bundled with some Sonar version and do I need to pay to activate it or should I look back for a code. I'll look anyway but I thought someone might know. I'm like water, I seek the easiest way...

Speaking of an SG. The new GP magazine has an interview with John Frusciante. Apparently he loves the Yamaha SG, says he has about 9 of them. Good ones aren't cheap. They now make three models, they are SBG now. I like the SGB1820. I don't imagine I am going to find one local though. What about them? Anything? Nice guitar? Worth the extra?

Well, I looked. Nothing in my account... and I am NOT paying what they are asking for POD Farm 2. So yeah, I like the amp and want more guitars.
I have to respond to myself to have a conversation... but that's OK, at least I learn something.

IIRC unless you want to use POD Farm 2 via iLok, your Line 6 device is your "activation".

I use it via iLok so I have no experience with a Line 6 device.

Straummy may know.

I had an issue with line6 that happened many years ago and that I tried to get fixed for over two years with no success whatever. It caused me to ditch all my line6 software. The issue seemed so trivial that I couldn't believe they couldn't or wouldn't fix it. What happened was at some point I upgraded to gearbox gold. It was boxed so installed it, no prob. I already owned several pieces of their hardware and software so I had an existing account. However, it had been so long since I had downloaded anything from them my email had changed...we'll, only my carrier had changed as they got bought out. In any case they had me listed with the old address and I couldn't remember my password. The way their site was set up I could retrieve my password...but they could only send it to my old (now wrong) address. So...I was locked out of my account. I sent them countless emails with all info to fix the problem...but in return only the sound of crickets, or the occasional form email. I even tried calling several times but at that time the system was totally automated so...no love. Finally just said screw them and deleted all their stuff off my DAW.

They make good stuff...but they are one whacky bunch.

Where you come from is gone...where you thought you were goin to weren't never there...and where you are ain't no good unless you can get away from it.

I had a problem like that with a Gmail account... when Comcast bought Adelphia. I waited too long to try and access the Gmail acct and could no longer access my Adelphia email... no love. no help. still can't get it but I don't care, I have another.
With the POD Farm 2 I get a prompt to buy an activation from L6 but the POD Farm1? works fine. My POD works fine. I have not tried using the POD Farm 2 with the UX-2 plugged in, that just might take care of it. It is one of those things I have had a long time and never used. I was just looking at it and considering it and as usual with everything I have left laying around, there is some problem to overcome when I try to use it. I used to really enjoy the Toneport Online service, it was great for learning riffs and licks.. songs. Looking at this jammit, I am not sure what I will get and they don't have very many songs I am interested in, it is the "con" part of getting older I guess. The songs I want to learn are, well.. I guess no one else is interested.

I am wondering if I can use my POD in the loop of the Mesa in the loop for the effects. I have never fooled with an FX loop in an amp because I mostly either go guitar>cord>amp or insert an OD or distortion pedal in front. I've never been much on swirly FX but I do like to play a few Trower songs. I usually don't even use reverb but I want to be able to use it if I want to or if I can. Do you know if you can use a POD in an amp's FX loop? I bet Bapu will know...

This sounds like a wake up call for all of us to switch all email addresses with all music related software/hardware to a generic (hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc.) account that will never "disappear" due to ISP providers being acquired etc.
