They opened for Peter Gabriel when I saw them, and they were his backing band ... I've always liked this version better than the later, and better known version with Papa Bear.

it's the true irony of art that those who want the most power and renowned are those that will never ever get it.  I think that's Nietzsche (maybe?)  It definitely puts food on the table for academics though.  What happens there, stays there, right?  The rest is sour grapes!

Hi,

So far Pedro's in the lead for most albums nobody has, I mean that I don't have!

First, I do have some soundtracks, I generally despise them so I didn't even look at that list.  Here's a summary of the rest:

Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoios - 0!
Airto Moreira - 0!
Flora Purim - 0!
Tanned Leather - 0!
Cherubin - 1
Socrates - 1
Yu Imai - 0!
Ralph Lundsten - 0!
Tasavallan Presidenti - 0!
Yukka Tolonen - 0!
Wig Wam - 0!
Uno - 1
Reale Academia de Musica - 1
Granada - 0!
Beyond the Fridge - Is this an artist?
Behind the Fridge - Is this an artist?
Derek and Clive - Is this an artist?
Guy Guden - space Pirate Radio - 0!
Saint Giles Cripplegate - Is this an artist?
Terje Rypdal - 36 (including collaborations)
Jan Garbarek - 6
Egberto Gismonti - 35
Charlie Haden - 0!
Eberhard Weber - 0!
Shankar - 0!  (No Shakti either, but I do have some Ravi Shankar.)

I've saved the list and eventually I'll check out the ones I don't have (can't buy anything for a bit anyway).

I've got nine of their albums which include at least three different versions of this song (including a live version on their "A Brief History..." double album).  You need to check out more of their stuff methinks!

Hi,

First, I do have some soundtracks, I generally despise them so I didn't even look at that list.  Here's a summary of the rest:
...

Soundtracks are fun and have a lot of neat things ...  I even forgot Magic Christian, Help, The Rutles, Life of Brian ... and when/if you do a radio show, these albums always have bitties worth goofing around with!

And I have not gone over comedy ... Spike Jones, Tom Lehrer, Ernie Kovacz, The Goons, Monty Python, PC and DM, Secret Policeman's Ball, Firesign Theater and some of their solos ...

craigb
Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoios - 0!
Airto Moreira - 0!
Flora Purim - 0!
Tanned Leather - 0!
Yu Imai - 0!
Ralph Lundsten - 0!
Tasavallan Presidenti - 0!
Yukka Tolonen - 0!
Wig Wam - 0!
Granada - 0!
Beyond the Fridge - Is this an artist?
Behind the Fridge - Is this an artist?
Derek and Clive - Is this an artist?
Guy Guden - space Pirate Radio - 0!
Saint Giles Cripplegate - Is this an artist?
Charlie Haden - 0!
Eberhard Weber - 0!
Shankar - 0!  (No Shakti either, but I do have some Ravi Shankar.)...

Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoios -- Know nothing about them, except that the album was weird and had a bit of Firesign Theater in it kinda stuff.
Cherubin -- part of the krautrock scene. Only one album to my knowledge. Has a couple of great things in it.
Tanned Leather -- Folk Music, California style done German way. part of the Harvest group.
Yu Imai -- keyboard player with Sadistic Mika Band ... wonderful solo album and a rarity.
Ralph Lundsten -- Norwegian ( I think) composer that did a lot of experimentation with synthesizers in the 70's ... Nature Symphony 1 and 2 are both very good. Many of his albums are weird, but they are also fun and good.
Tasavallan Presidenti -- Norwegian or Finish, not sure ... with guitarist Yukka Tolonen ... very nice fusion/progressive stuff that is guitar based.
Granada -- Spanish progressive 1976/77/78 and later
Beyond/Behind the Fridge -- Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in their early days ... there is a DVD with some of this stuff, that was filmed and shown on the BBC ... funny stuff and apparently there was a "show" for these.
Derek and Clive -- Pete and Dud drunk senseless and every 15 letter or word is ... yeah, you got it ... but it is funny once you get past ... the words and language!
Guy Guden -- Album of comedy bits I produced for Guy Guden
St Giles Cripplegate -- Jack Nitzche right after his work on "Performance"
Charlie Haden -- must have, specially his stuff with Gismonti (which you already have, so I know you have Charlie -- magico!)
Eberhard Weber -- You do have some, as he has played on several Kate Bush albums ... wonderful player and very soft and gentle on the touch.
Shankar -- the double violin player also has a couple of bands, which I do not think are that great but are nice to listen to. He also played with Bruce Springstink in one of those big name concerts.

Good job ...

You also need the "Masked Marauders" and "Plus" ... and now you can come over and record anything you want ... computer ready with USB Stanton turntable!

Ok, that makes a bit more sense.  The goal wasn't to find ANYTHING I don't have, but to find artists who make quality music that I don't have.  I was a DJ from '80 thru '83, that was enough - I won't be doing that again, and I find more than enough comedy in the Coffee House so I don't need any more of that.

I've saved a list of the ones that I think will be fun to check out later (including the ones that James is posting).

Cool!  Ok, let's see...

Freur - Got "Doot Doot"

Andy Summers/Robert Fripp (they only did 2 albums together I think) - They did two and an interview album, I have a bunch of Robert with others, but not Andy so this goes on the list!

The League of Gentlemen - I actually have them with Robert Fripp.  (But not by themselves.)

Shriekback - Got "Big Night Music"

Rain Tree Crow - Got two versions of their self-titled album (one's a Japanese remaster) - Plus 11 Japan albums.

Rosie Vela - Never heard of her but my eyes likey!

Five Hand Reel - Got one but can't find it... It's a compilation of two albums with weird names (LOL!).

BBM - Got "Around The Next Dream" - unfortunately the only album they made (or will)...

Tom Cochrane - Got a bunch either solo or with Red Rider.

Nice list!
