Completely NEW and lost

I'm about to purchase a Korg PA50 Arranger Keyboard. I want a program that will allow me to build and modify style (Accompaniment) files. Thats really all I want to do. What is the cheapest Cakewalk program for this application?
thanks,
Tim

Are these style-files normal MIDI-files? If so, Music Creator and X1 Essential are the ones that come to mind, because you can't buy the LE version. Doesn't the Korg come with added software?

I'm not aware if you need some special features for the job, but all the mentioned have decent MIDI-editing ability.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

What about Kinetic 2? Would it allow me to create midi style files for my Korg?

Indeed.  LE versions are often given away with hardware such as this keyboard.  It seems likely that there may be some suitable software included in the package.

I can't find any where on the Korg site or elsewhere, that mentions anything about included PC software. Korg does however have a section with instrument definitions for cakewalk. This makes me think they don't offer any of their own editing software.
After some research, it looks like Sonar Home Studio 7XL would be a good choice for me.... seems pretty user friendly, and has all the options I want. Thoughts?

Since Korg sells style packs, I don't think they'll be providing any software which can create them directly.  Although the styles (.sty files) are "based" on MIDI tracks they are not just renamed MIDI files.  From what I've seen you'll need some kind of conversion program to transform a dozen or so MIDI files into one .sty file.

Disks containing free (or sometimes trial) software have been provided with several hardware items that I have purchased, but there was no prior mention of it anywhere.  I have no experience of Korg products though, but this certainly applies to Edirol, Line6 and M-Audio.  Perhaps you could ask about it on the Korg Forum.
