Concrete Floor
Hey folks,
Been quite a little while since I've posted here. I'm hoping to carve out a little more time for my music enjoyment. It really does make everything better. So with a one year old and four year old downstairs, I basically never get upstairs to the project studio. On top of that, the air conditioner hasn't worked for about one year. That combination, plus the void I feel in not doing any music, prodded me to move the core of my rig downstairs to the air conditioned comfort of the master bedroom. Man...is it nice and the subwoofer smooth and super tight compared to the second floor of this wood frame house. I'd read concrete slabs were supposed to be better. The audible dip and hump in the bass is gone. Smooth top to bottom. There's no treatment in here at all...it's setup purely out of functionality and it sounds awesome. I've got the JBL 4326's with matching sub and the room correction adjusted just a few db on each speaker...very nice to see. Granted, I've not mixed here yet, but I'm betting it will travel well. I hope to find out really soon. If you have an opportunity to setup on a concrete foundation, you may want to try it.
