Concrete (You and I)
Hi Folks i have been toying with this for quite a while. It became a duet (with the current Mrs Daryl1968) about 3 months ago and my mate James (jamesg1213) added some fabulous guitar recently. The song is very apt as we have been married 25 years this year through the good and the bad. It's quite different to my usual schtuff - or is it? You be the judge. Nits and crits welcome. https://soundcloud.com/sk.lueproductions/you-and-i

Y'all did a fine job on this one. You and The Current Mrs. Daryl1968 sung up a storm (a good one). And that James is an up and coming lad for sure.

I'd say it sits in the same vein as your others: kinda sparse in spots, mixed clean as hell, cool major/minor change-ups, filled with pop sensibilities without being at all generic, thoughtful instumentation (loved the background piano), and blessed with some excellent vocals, both lead and bgv's. Yep, pretty much the same as your other stuff, brilliant. Your mix is so clean, it's like you've got a vst "vacuum" plug-in that sucks the aural residue out from between the instruments. Wish I had that! cheers, -Tom

Congrats! 25! Excellent. Have you moved back to the UK? The song is really good. When I heard the first two chords I thought, "I am the Walrus." The guitar has tasty parts too. The Mrs sounded great. (Yes - love getting the wife involved). The only crit I have is that you have a certain way that you process your vocal that gives you your sound. It seems like your processing is applied to the Mrs. I'm wondering how it would sound with the Mrs more open and natural? Great work as always.

nice mix! clean through out....the arrangement (sparse, clean sound sources) surely makes it easier to get separation. arrangements, arrangements, arrangements!! it immediately reminds me of a cross between howard jones and some beatles tune great performances, and a solid lyric, even if it's a bit cheesy! like it.

Bats said he picked up a bit of a Beatles sound to this number. I caught the same thing. It has a wee bit of an early Beatles sound with Lennon vocals (to me that is). I think that this song is just terrific!!!! I am trying to find something to provide as a constructive suggestion, but there is just nothing I can find. Excellent!!!!

very nice song, performance and high standard production! The 2 voices compliment each other (as one would expect ; ) ) and James's guitar fits in perfect here. You definitely have developed your own style. It's such a pleasure to listen to your set list. It stays in the same kind of vibe without it ever getting boring. Keep 'em coming, Sir ! Daryl I don't think I've listened to your other "schtuff" so can't compare, but I really liked this song. Great melody. Whenever I hear an interesting melody I always try to figure out what makes it so intriguing and in yours it's that little unexpected dip (...I can be sure of..) that grabbed me. Very nice!

Daryl, I really like the feel, the mood of this man, and at the end of the day You are trying to convey a feeling, an emotion and it does. I think her vocal could be a little hotter. but I am sure that's subjective. Nice synths, and guitar lead. ohhh. and harmony lead that at the end too. Cool. Good job man.
