A really nice mix to my ear Jesse.  The contrast of the scratchy lead with the super-clean rhythm guitar is perfect.  The steady minimalist drums work well with this too.  I don't think I would change a thing.

I love the whole thing ... the vocal and its message, the groaning bass, crisp and overdriven guitar sounds, the pounding drums, the works. Great sick atmosphere, creepy good :)

you have a unique sound going on here. got a bit samey after a while though the bass change ups were welcome. mix is clear if a little narrow.

Yes, I think it does get a little samey.  I don't consider it my best effort by any means but I do like it much.  The things I like most about it is the electric when it plays chords rhythm.  It sounds like steel ripping apart, to me anyway.  Thanks for you comments, they will help improve.

Thanks for listening Bill.  Your comment sent me on the quest for early Bowie music.  I had never heard that music before.  If I could make music half as good as him, that would make me happy.

Cool as usual but for some reason I think it's a little TOO "low fi" - like you are trying hard to leave the edges rough? I'd vote for a little more polish, and more bass level, because this song I think is very good and very worth it.

Lyrics, melody, vocal delivery, pace - all great.

    cheers,

You win the free wind chimes, you're the first person to notice that in my song.  In fact, I try to put some soft rock into all my stuff...NOT! just some of my stuff, but not this one, this one was straight up disco.

Hello Tom, I had to look up what low fi really meant.  To be honest, I wasn't trying to leave the edges rough, they just turned out that way, mostly due to my inexperience.  I was in a hurry, as usual, so didn't use any eq, compression, or reverb.
The acoustic guitar was di using one of those under the saddle pickups.  The bass was di too, and I didn't use an amp sim.  The electric was recorded di too, from the digital out of my Masrshall DSL  401.

Under the circumstances, I can see why you said what you said.  It is very much low fi, but not intentionally.

esoul, you are one of the persistent listeners of my stuff, and I always appreciate your input.  I will take to heart your suggestion to spend more time on this piece.  Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted the file, so I will have to start from scratch, but I think I can do it, thanks.

Nice atmosphere and feeling, the guitar play is very energetic. Maybe I would have tried to make the vox fit in more with the rest (tiny reverb/delay?)
I listened in headphones, that is. Good work, interesting piece!

    Hi Jesse,

I finally get around to listen to some of your music.

When I listen to new stuff I try to pigeonhole it into something I am already familiar with.

Can't do it with this piece. Not a bad thing... Not at all. It is your own style, and with this particular song it comes across as raw and having been done "in the moment," something which I could never even think about achieving.

I am trying to picture you live... Difficult to do on just once piece, so I've listened to some more of your songs. Now I am seeing/hearing a more punky version of Rolling Stones or something... I hope that hasn't offended

    Nice work

    cheers
