"Configure as tempo based effect" Question

I've just done some serious investigation of tempo-sync effects in SONAR (latest release).  All my tempo-based plug-ins except for what follows work fine ... and they all have the "configure as tempo-based effect" option checked when I look at their properties in the plug-in manager.

I cannot get the Wave Supertap to work under any circumstances.  This has been reported here before, and that's not the motivation for this question, but I thought I'd add a "me too" to the list of disgruntled parties.

What surprised me was that the ever-reliable FabFilter effects (Timeless, Volcano, etc.) did not install themselves as tempo-sensitive.  I had to go into the plug-in manager and check "configure as tempo-based effect" for the tempo-sync to work.  Once I did, the proper behavior was in effect, so it would seem that there's no permanent problem.  I'm just wondering why every other plug-in (other than Waves) had this done automatically upon initial scan.

Is there any point in reporting this as a bug to FF (or should I report it to CW)?  Have others seen this behavior?

I have effectively zero experience with DAWs other than SONAR at this point, so I don't even know if "configure as a tempo-base effect" is a SONAR-only thing or fairly universal.  I'm just trying to figure out if this is a SONAR issue or a FF issue.

I can get Supertap to sync with the host properly by selecting "configure as tempo-based effect," I just tried it. Although you have to go in and manually change the setting for all versions of the plug, which is a pain. Not sure why it's not working on your end. Especially since I myself ran into the same problem last March...

There, someone suggested going into the registry and changing the registerAsTempoBasedEffect value. Which I did. Since then, I've reinstalled Sonar & reset my plugins and of course they were back to not being registered as tempo based effects. In truth I've been too lazy to change that, and I've been manually setting the bpm in the effects. However in response to your post I just went and tried making the setting in the plugin manager, and lo and behold it works! Really don't know what's going on there....

I can change the setting for one of the Waves delays and click OK (or save or whatever the option is that says "make it so").  If I reopen the properties, "configure as ..." is still checked.  If I open the properties of another plug-in and then come back to the Waves delay, the option is no longer checked.  The setting was never made permanent.

This isn't a huge deal as I have more delays than I know what to do with anyway.  Also, I think it was Bitflipper who reported that the Waves multi-tap did not deal well with tempo changes, so setting absolute delay times is probably the way to go in the first place if you use tempo changes in your sequences.

I'm more curious about the Fab Filter plug-ins ... why they are not defaulted to tempo-based and nearly everything else that should be is.  There's nothing in the VST spec about how a plug-in tells a host it's going to be asking for tempo/beat information.  Somehow Sonar knows to assign the tempo-based attribute and get it right with everything but Fab Filter (and Waves, of course).
