Configuring main/back-up PC's with same software

Configuring an XI-EXP Main and Back-up pc system, running identical plugs/software/etc. 
Have master Keyboard controller, Motu lite, midi merge and splitter boxes.....would love to have
ability to play midi out and record midi all around to both PC's...but don't need to have them actually running simultaneously as a master/slave.  Audio routing no issue....just need any advice youse all might have before my head explodes...
Basically just setting up an "A' and "B" system with same resources and abilities.
