Confused on the Lifetime Updates...199 or 99??

So I've stayed current on my updates and I see some are getting discounts. I have not received a discount code. Were they just randomly given to some or were there special stipulations? A little clarification please fellas? Thanks!

    From http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3429473

I just renewed SONAR Platinum this year. Do I still have to pay the full $199?
No, your price will be $199 minus the amount you paid when you purchased your renewal. Click here to see your price.

Discounts are applied based on what is in your account and the final price is show in the cart after clicking the Buy Now button.

As I understand it, it's basically €199 unless you've already *renewed* a *yearly* subscription to Platinum this year, i.e. initially purchased a year's membership in 2015 (or, possibly, paid a full year of monthly updates, I don't know if that also counts) and renewed for a full year in 2016. Staying current with monthly payments does not count, as you haven't prepaid for any time. Again, that's just my understanding of the situation, not an official statement.

Those of us in that situation, and were signed up for emails (and it is known that the email system is or at least has been in the past, somewhat flakey) were given an offer to buy into the lifetime option discounted, essentially, by the amount we've already paid this year. If you're in that situation but didn't get an email, you can try to catch the ear of one of the CW staff that poke their heads in here from time to time (maybe PM one of them?) and they should get you sorted if in fact your situation qualifies.

I am really confused about this life time support! I just recived an e-mail stating that the upgrade price Will be 199 dollars minus the amount I paid after the first year - no more than 99 dollars! Checking my Price it's 1742 Danish kr. around 266 dollars??? I have paid monthly since february 2015. If I am not able to get it for 99 dollars why bother me with this e-mail?

I have the same question Thomas and am also waiting for a reply. I'm guessing that there are a lot of people with issues and that this is why they are taking so long to get to individuals.

I am confused too. Clicking on "Buy now" doesn't change anything, it brings back to the page where it is still written 199.
I will wait till July to see if this is updated...

So taking a look at your account, looks like subtlearts nailed it. You've purchased SONAR Platinum, but not a renewal. The $99 Lifetime Updates offer is exclusively for people who bought SONAR Platinum, then bought a renewal for $99.

Edit: Which, I should add, ends up being the same amount of money either way.

    So Joey,

For all the monthly payers, is it:

Paid for 12 months puts you in the "purchased Platinum" (equiv to 2015) camp.

But paying for 5/6 months of this year does NOT put you in the "also renewed in 2016" camp.

    Correct?

That's completely accurate. We'll likely be updating the FAQ pretty soon.
