Congrats USA

Hi,

On reaching the WC ... and playing the 2nd half really well. Well deserved win!

As for Mexico ... sorry to see that your Federation and Coaches have let the country down ... but I doubt they believed that Concacaf was any better than they knew ... and the number of MLS players on those other 4 teams is crazy, and almost all of them shined in one way or another.

Congratulations

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

    They only have 2 halves?

What kind of sport is that?

They tried three halves but people left the stadiums after two, so they shortened it.

    Too many left over hotdogs?

    That makes sense.

If they had been tofu dogs, they would have ALL been leftover.

Sport and tofu are like oil and water. They don't taste good together.

    You say that but...

I once was asked to work in a hot dog cart that was set up in the middle of the Stevensville Montana summer festival.

The highlight of the event was bare knuckle boxing in a ring set up in the intersection of Main and 4th street.

I said yes but countered with the demand that I also got to serve my world famous "Carrot Dog".

The word got out and all the cowboys said they had to try the Carrot Dog.

We ended up with left over hotdogs and there wasn't a carrot left on Highway 93 for 60 miles in either direction. We kept sending out for more carrots until we had to give up.

    True story.

It's all in the sales pitch I tell ya.

    Are your carrot dogs raw?

    I don't eat cooked carrots.

Seriously, I DO NOT eat cooked carrots.

The carrots are steamed to the consistency of a fine hot dog.

The bun has to be white and fluffy so it soaks up the condiments like angel food cake.

The funny thing about the boxing was that as an outsider, I observed that the young guys in the ring were a contemporary generation meant to represent a grand legacy of local grudge feuding. I've met Don King and some famous boxers etc. and this bare knuckle event was something else.

If I wasn't so busy slinging carrots I would have thought the whole event was sort of surreal. ;-)

As if slinging carrot dogs at a bare knuckle boxing event ISN'T SURREAL?

I didn't think Mexico had a chance after they fired their headcoach.  Now to see where the US finishes in the group, number 1?  Number 2?
