Congratulations to Cakewalk!
Congratulations to Cakewalk on the smooth release of the new Sonar. While there may have been a few complaints here and there, the rollout of the new product went fairly smooth and I know I'm happy with it and the new purchasing model. This congratulations comes on the news of the DISASTER of a rollout of Pro Tools 12. For those that also use/own Pro Tools I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. There's absolute chaos over there about no new features, no licenses, and wrong downloads in people's accounts. All the hype about track freeze, collaboration, and neither is in the new release. An embarrassment to say the least. Major web blogs are telling people to not even bother trying it. I started with Sonar years ago, I do also use Pro Tools when I have to, but I've been back to Sonar since the X1 version and now use Platinum as my main DAW. Glad I came back.

+1 Overall, everything involved in the upgrade to Platinum went off without a hitch. Loving the new features that I've used so far. Thanks, Cakewalk!!

Cakewalk is always working on new developments. Sometimes they're easy, sometimes they're stubborn. You never know which is which until the QA process begins, which of course is the last link in the chain. I don't always have a firm idea of what's in the release until it's time to start putting together the eZine. This is another advantage of the monthly release. It may seem like that would imply projects have to adhere to tighter deadlines, but that's not really the case. It's more like things are "harvested" once a month, so you just harvest what's ripe at the time. The only thing I know for sure is what I have up my sleeve. I do drop hints in here from time to time about those. Like Cakewalk, I too have projects in various stages of development, so I can't always predict when one is going to feel like it's fully baked. I will say the Percussion loop library is finished and I'm very happy with it--been using the loops on lots of projects, they slide right in. I could never find tambourine loops I liked so there are a bunch of those, but the Electro loops are something else altogether...in any event I have plenty of surprises for you in the months ahead.
