Connecting my MA-15D Speakers to my PC

Hi , I hope someone can advise me!  I have Purchased a V-STUDIO 20 and the Cakewalk MA-15d Speakers. I want to connect them to my HP computer but I'm not sure how to go about this.
I have the VS 20 connected to the PC via USB;  The MA-15D  is connected to L & R output connections on the VS20 From its line 1 connection in the area marked 'LINE IN' .
The 'DIGITAL IN' connections on the MA-15D comprises of a Optical connection and a coaxial connection. My PC does not have an optical connection it only has a Blue green and red connection available  so  i'm confused as to how  to proceed.

NB I did have the above connected to a Mac Pro and connected Digital In via the optical connection, but cannot do this on my PC with windows 7.  I want to use my PC so I can use SONAR X1 which is not available for Mac.

Please advise if you can. Denis

Just a thought, please excuse me but I a newbie to this but do I need to get a sound card with a optical connection? Do you think that might solve my problem? and if so which one would be best?

Your VS20 is an audio interface--that means it is essentially an external soundcard.  You don't need an additional sound card, because you don't need to use the optical/digital connections at all--the analog connections (red and white RCA cable) are more than sufficient.  The transmission of audio from your VS20 to your computer happens over USB.

In short, you have it hooked up correctly; focus on configuring your OS/software.

Hi Everything Flows. Thank you for the info.  I have taken the optical the optical connection out.  The "COSM effects" were functioning on my Mac, But are not on my Windows PC.  I went into the VS-20's "Set up Midi Devices"

the settings were as follows:
                VS-20 Input:    "3- VS-20 Effect Control"
                VS-20 Output:  "3- VS-20 Effect Control"

I changed both these settings to "2- VS-20 Effect Control"
The only other options were :- "2- VS-20 DAW Control" or "(none)"

(The settings on my Mac differ only in that there is no number before VS-20 Effect Control)

Question. Should the Settings for input and output both be the same, or should one of them be "DAW Control"?
