Make sure you "enable MIDI out" when inserting Maschine.

sounds like you are trying to record maschines pads to Sonars instrument/MIDI track. i had the same problem and I forget if I ever solved it. i think i may have just ended up using my midi keyboard to trigger maschine under those circumstances. In the long run I found it much easier to sequence in maschine and then just drag and drop the midi from maschine into sonar. maschines sequencer is a little cleaner than both piano roll and step sequencer, although you can still use both of those once you have dropped the Midi to sonar.

I'm not sure but I think if you right click on midi track and use bounce to tracks it will bounce it down as an audio track-hope you have multiple tracks setup for each instrument has its own output therefore you can edit each audio track(instrument- IE kick, snare) individually. Or to save time just drag drop audio after you sequence and arrange individual tracks that way. nothing records on my audio track niether-i think you got to bounce to track. I saw it in a cake- walk tutorial. Sonar Expained or Sonar Tips and Tricks. hope it helps.

Sorry for butting in here, just very curious about how Maschine performs in Sonar these days? I'm a little interested in that new version with the smaller controller. There were some general issues with it that I know concerning USB ports, drivers etc which I assume has been fixed. But is the rest of it working nicely with Sonar now?

Thanks for any input on this and sorry for borrowing your thread LARaatz.

With Maschine and Sonar you do your Maschine stuff by actually recording with the Maschine's record button inside itself running as a VST in sonar. Once you have what you need. Export the individual wavs.

That is only one way.  As I said in my first reply -- enabling MIDI OUT allows the user to use the pads to record directly into Sonar.   I do it almost daily.

IF one wants to create pattens/scenes, etc, within Maschine, then it is correct to do the recording IN Maschine and export to Sonar - OR just let it sync up (which it does automatically) and be played from Maschine directly.

    After inserting Maschine:

    1. Load your drum set into Machine
    2. Right click on the name of the drum set in the top window of Maschine
    3. Click "midi batch settings" (something like that)- now select "send as midi notes"
    4. Go to your midi track in Sonar
    5. Select "Maschine" as the input source
    6. BAM.  Record away.
