Console View - Lock to 2nd Monitor?

Hi All!

In Sonar 8.5 (and just about all previous versions of Sonar) you could float the Console View to a second monitor, hit the Maximize button on the Console View, and it would "Lock" (or "Dock") itself to the second monitor.
Once saved, anytime I would open that project the Console View would automatically show up on my second monitor, locked and ready to go!!

I'm trying to accomplish the same command in Sonar X1.c and it's not responding in the same way.

I call up the Console View, right click the icon in the upper left hand corner and select "Enable Floating". I then drag the Console view to my second monitor. Once there I click the "maximize" button (to lock this view to my second monitor), but as soon as I click "maximize" the console view disappears from my secondary monitor and shows up on my primary monitor in front of Sonar X1.c as a "minimized" strip in the upper left hand corner of the Track View!!

What's the point here? This was a very functional and practical command/feature that didn't need to be "fixed" (If it anit' broke....)!!
I'm finding more and more aspects of X1.c that seem to be following this pattern. It's a bit disheartening as well as frustrating.

So I assume there's a "New and Improved" way to get the results I'm looking for here, Right??

Help, Please.

In my two-monitor setup, the Console View fills up the second screen as you describe in Sonar 8.5....this works perfectly, and by setting up the appropriate screenset, i get the Console View filling the 2nd screen every time i open a new project.

Not sure what's going on with your X1 setup...i don't think i've seen anything like that before.

It should work independently floating but try docking it in the multidock, then float the multidock move it to your second monitor, shift + D to maximise it and now you can call it up or hide it by pressing D.

Not only that but you can dock a whole load of other windows to it and use Ctrl+Shift+arrow keys to navigate them.

Having said all that simple floating is working fine here too.

I have an A/B switch box that I use to share my 2nd monitor with my multimedia PC (TV,movies, etc)

If I have the Console view locked to the 2nd monitor, it always goes back to the 2nd monitor on load up of a project - UNLESS I use the A/B switch box during a session - which then puts the Console into the 1st monitor (the X1 session).

When I use the A/B switch to get back to my X1 session, the console stays in the 1st monitor.  I have to drag it back into the 2nd monitor.

I don't recall having to do this in 8.x.

Saving a project with windows where one wants them will then load that project as it was last saved. All windows should be where they were when saved.

Just an additional thought. Once you've got the set up you want make sure that the screenset isn't locked. If it is changes you made will not 'stick' for the next time you use that screenset.

    Thanks FastBikerBoy!

    That worked perfectly for me!

Not sure why I cant get the Console view to dock to my monitor independently once floating, but at least it works this way.

Do you think it could be the size od my monitor, or screen resolution?
Just never had this issue with 8.5.3 (or any other version for that matter)>

    Thanks again

I can't see why the screen resolution or monitor would make a difference especially if the multidock method will stick, but who knows. It should work using the independant floating method as well.

Having said that I'm sure you'll find the multidock method more useful anyway as you get used to it. Switching tabs in it is very quick and far better than cycling windows. IMHO of course.
