Console view - am I missing something

Hi Guys, I'm in the middle of my first large project in X1b producer. So far so good, no crashes, and the manuals have gotten me quick answers whenever I've run into a roadblock. I'm doing it all on a laptop sonay vaio with a 15.6 with sonar plus helping out with the screen real estate.

The only problem I can't solve it that bnow I'm at the mixing stage (vox recording is next week) I can't move the channel strips around like I used to. So far when I've run into something that i was used to doing a certain way in previous versions, I've quickly learnt the new way, but this one issue I'm stumped on.

It's not a biggie or a showstopper by any means but it would be nice for me to figure this out. So far haven't found out via the reference guide and my copy of Sonar X1 power is far away at home. So any help appreciated.

Just to reiterate, apart fom this minor niggle, X1 is working very well for me.

Please listen to my band's new (post-prog rock?!) songs at www.reclaimmusic.com all produced using sonar X1!!

Crtl and alt - then click and drag with the mouse will move the channels around in console view

Nice one. Not particularly intuitive, but once you know it, functional...

I forgot to add - you have to have x1B patch installed or else this wont work

If you have x1a or no patches - then you have to click and drag in track view and the console view of course will change with it

I thought it was Alt only. It works for me. I don't have to hit Ctrl + Alt.  Am I missing something? Is there a difference?

Thanks guys. So simple. But is that in the reference guide? I do have X1b installed so I should be fine.

that was new in X1b (or rather, having been MIA in X1/a after being normal (non-ALT) functionality previously, it was put back in X1b) so I don't think it'll be in the manual. I wonder if they'll do an addendix? (addendum/appendix, just made that up now, I guess the coffee must be kicking in...)

Why not have an area on the panel where you can just click and drag? (like the track number, for example). Most things that can be moved in windows operate that way (move if you click and drag in the right place)

agreed... I think this was kind of tacked on for X1b so maybe for whatever reason it was easier to do it with the Alt key. Straight click-and-drag in the console, whether on the track number or otherwise, seems to multi-select tracks, which is a bit odd; that is usually done with shift-click in Windows, and indeed that works here too. Why it can't function the same as in Track View - i.e. click-drag on the track numbers for multi-select, click-drag on an open area of the track (in TV it seems to be only on the title-bar) to move it - is not clear. Especially since once you've multi-selected tracks in CV, you don't get a right-click drop-down menu where you can do stuff to the selected tracks, as you do in TV. Why not? Why let us multi-select tracks in CV but not do anything to them?
So I think I've delineated another FR, I guess I'll go off and post it now...
