Continous live synth recording -
I have been able to do the following with FL Studio and Ableton.
I create a drum loop in their sequencer/drum machine, start it, then start playing a lead over it with some kind of virtual synth, monkey around with the lead - all the time recording it and the ongoing bakcground drum loop in one continuous take. I then stop playing the lead but do not stop recording and now I monkey around with the beat - all the time capturing the entire output of my monkeying around - and then when I am happy with the new beat I switch back to the synth, fiddle around there, over and over, etc, etc.. Finally after whatever length of time I stop and then with Ableton I have the entire session output as midi notes and with FL Studio I have it as a wav file which in either case I can edit. So it's as if I had a bunch of musicians in the room with real instruments, turned on a recording device and kept it on for the entire jam session.
Is this doable in Sonar - and if so - which version and how would I got about it?
