Control Surface Suggestions?
Wondering if anyone has suggestions on hardware control surfaces that play well with X3 ( I have Studio). I'm not as focused on heavy mixing, but day to day navigation and chores that might take some stress of the mousing hand (getting some CTS creeping in). Price is not so much an issue as proven integration and real benefits ( and less icing of the hand after a long session...). Any thoughts appreciated.

Lots of threads on this if you search the forum. I use the makie control universal pro and the c4 rotary companion. They are one of the best options- although they could be better supported.

Thanks James; Mackie is definitely on the list I've looked at; didn't know if any of the newer products out now have moved ahead of it. Re: search: I used to frequent this forum a lot, but only recently rejoined. Search function turned up no results ( which I found odd) so..yes, tried that. Maybe I was doing something wrong..will try again.

Hello dcmg, I've had my MCU Pro for a few years now, worked on a number of projects and it's a great controller! There are others out there that are pretty nice, depending on what you need like "Solid State Logic Nucleus" they go around $5,300.00 \../

Thanks Mantrasky.....Search function is working correctly now; MCU still seems to be the one most users have had good experience with. Seems we may be in a no-man's land for control surfaces vs touchscreen. I think people may find some ergonomic issues with the touchscreen work method if you're putting in long editing hours, but time will tell. SSL: maybe I spoke too soon about price not being an issue :) Yikes. Interesting crossroad....I've really got enough good pre's, mics, etc that if I can do most of the work that comes my way. More interested in ergonomics; building a workstation that allows hours of time and intense work without taking a toll on the body...ie custom Sit/Stand Desk at correct heights, good seating, etc. May be a long process :) Thanks for the input!

top of the list is keyboard shortcuts... that alone can take a major portion of your mouse clicking away. then decide what you want and be inventive..after all there are LOTS of programmable doodads that don't pretend to be a "control surface", yet can offer huge benefits.. in my case its a Belkin nt52e gamepad controller.

Mystic38, I'm coming to the same conclusion. I use a lot of custom key bindings but I should spend the time to fully embrace the ones that are already in place and work from there. It's easy to get seduced by the new cool thing with lights and sirens ( that Behringer thing did trigger the "I need that now" response ...even if it is a Behringer!) BTW, for anyone interested in the Sit/Stand desk concept, this is the base I'm leaning toward http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HRFEEP8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3TVAH4LHV83BE&coliid=I3KSR7KN48257B&psc=1 I'll build a workstation top (3/4 birch PW) to my spec (roughly 36x80). When done, my LCD, monitors and 12 rack spaces of gear will be able to move from optimal sitting height to optimal standing height ( stored settings) with the flick of a switch. Ideally this means half of my day standing, half sitting= less back strain and overall fatigue. Should be cool.
