Controller Data Affecting All Channels of a VST synth?

Sonar 8 Studio Edition on Windows 7.

I'm using the old Kontact version of the East-West Quantum Leap (EWQL) Orchestral Samples, and I'm having an issue where the midi controller data from a single track seems to be affecting ALL of the channels on a particular instance of EWQL.

A simple example: recording the sustain pedal on one track seems to affect all of the tracks that ouput to the same instance of EWQL.

A more complicated example:  when using multiple mod-wheel controlled x-fade samples, the mod wheel data (cc1) seems to be, once again, affecting all of the channels on that particular synth.  If there is more than one track with cc1 data recorded, they really interfere with each other.  If I look at the "virual" mod wheel on the Kontakt synth, I can see it jumping up and down all over the place and making a mess out of the swells and dynamics.

Is this something that's supposed to happen?  How do I get the controller data from a single track to only affect the channel that the track is outputted to, and not affect all of them?

Your help is much appreciated...

Check your internal MIDI routing within Kontakt. One or more of the instruments in the multi may be set to Omni.

Thanks, this makes sense in a general sense, but I'm not sure how to check it or fix it.

Checking some of the other forums, there are references to the "settings" menu in Kontact.  But EWQL has it's own version of Kontact called "Kompact" and there is no settings menu that I can find.  There's an "options" button, and audio setup window that comes up if you launch it as a stand-alone, but neither seems to have the option of setting or unsetting the instruments to omni.

Is it possible this is controlled somewhere within Sonar?  Or am I missing something on the Kompact interface screen?

    Thanks again...

Sorry, I've never used Kompact and haven't even ever even seen its UI. But I'd always assumed it was a derivative of Kontakt, and supported multi-instruments like Kontakt. If that's the case then there has to be a way to assign MIDI channels to instruments, and any list of MIDI channel assignments has got to include "omni" as an option. Maybe a Kompact user will come along and identify where that magic button is.
