Controlling Two Different Synths with A Pro 300

I am trying to control Kontakt Scarbee Jay Bass and Superior Drummer 2.0 with my A Pro.  I assigned Channel 1 to one and Channel 2 to the other.  No matter what channel I select in A Pro it still outputs to whichever instrument is in focus in Sonar. 

Why doesn't the Midi in for the instrument change the channel it receives on.  Maybe I am not setting A Pro correctly but what I do is turn the knob until a channel number shows and then I press to select.

Why don't the midi out in A Pro and midi in on X1 seem to make any difference.  It is acting like I selected omni for the input.
