Convert Audio to MIDI or create MIDI from Audio ???

I have a track which has a bass drum recorded on it. Is it possible to create / convert / generate midi file/data from this track? I thought I had read somewhere, there is is a way to do this.  I want to replace the recorded bass drum sound with a sampled sound that I already have. I understand there is software such as drumagog etc which will do this, however I am asking if there is a way to do this in Sonar X1.  I have BFD2 which has  tons of top notch drum samples.

Thanks!!!!

    Audiosnap can do it.

It's been too long since I did it so a better man/woman than I can probably give you the tips on how to do it.

    I use drumamgog now.

Aside from AudioSnap, V-Vocal advertises Audio to MIDI as a feature, but many find the results lacking for most conversions.  You could use something like KTDrumTrigger for replacement purposes: http://www.smartelectronix.com/~koen/KTDrumTrigger/

It is donation ware so if you find it useful the developer would like donations, but you can discover it's usefulness for yourself.

Ditto on the Audio Snap suggestions.

Here's the link to the tutorial!

    Have you used this one?

I've just spent 20 minutes with and cannot get it to work in X1. The last instructions they had for SONAR was 6.0. Registry hacks. Too strange for me. Gave up.

Unfortunately I have not - I have both Toontrack's Drumtracker and Slate Audio's Trigger for this function, but had heard about it in the past and that it was relatively a cheap alternative.
