Converting parts into tracks

Hey, guys and gals.  I don't even know if I am wording the question properly.  Here is the case:
there is a MIDI file that I got.  Even when saved as a MIDI 1 file type, once opened, it shows only two MIDI tracks and each track is played by one distinct instrument.  Let's say, Track 1 is play by trombones and track two, by violins.

In the staff view, however, each track is divided in four staves, which I like it because it looks more realistic rather than having 16 notes at the same time, spreading from the third to the 7 octave.

Same for the second MIDI track.

Here is the question:  How can I save the file in such a way that every existing MIDI track is subdivided into 4 different staves (as in the staff view) in order to re-assign the instruments per staff, to fit the music style.  For example, rather than having 16 files assigned to the trombones in the first track, I would like the upper 4 notes played by trumpets, the 5-8 notes, clarinets, 9-13 by trombones and the rest by Tubas.

I know there is a brain out there with the answer.

Thanks every one in advance.

Are you sure the staff view isn't showing both tracks, each with bass and treble clefs? That would amount to 4 staves.

You need to move the notes you want in a separate track to a separate track if you want that behavior. If you just need to select notes in a range, you could use the event filter to select them, then cut and paste the selected notes to new tracks, and assign the instrument you want to play that track.
