Convolving - quick shortcuts?

My current method is to use an impulse-based convolution verb to do it, but is there a shortcut for taking two separate clips and, er, well convolving them? I remember a soundhack plugin from a billion years ago that does it but figured I'd ask in case I missed something.

Could you create a bus, put the reverb in the bus, and then route the two separate clips to the bus?

I could but that just sums the two files independently. What I want to do is actually shape one file with the characteristics of the other (it has a technical term...is it "phase modulation"?)

That's basically what a convolution verb does, but since it's intended as a verb I find it's difficult to get the solution I want. I just want a frankenstein plugin where you pour a file in each side and can adjust the multiplication.
