'Cookin' In Satan's Kitchen'

Treading water while I get the musical gears rolling again, so here's a Nettlesmith tune from our 2016 CD (the title track in fact)

    especially like the backing vocals
pairing with the early Disney (?) was cool, right on the beat.

It sounded like a mandolin: am I right?

Nice work, not over done, I could learn from that.

Jesse - thanks, yep, Tim played mandolin on this.

Dean - glad you liked it, we brought out a 6 track CD a couple of years ago, still have a few copies...

Every song you guys do is a classic.

I was hoping the animation was something you guys cooked up in some new fangled animation application. But I guess it was just stock footage?

    John - thanks for re-listening

Jeff - thank you, I thought Tim's vocals and lyrics were outstanding on this

Walt - I'd love to do some animation, always been something I've enjoyed, but this was just a 'happy accident' bit of footage I found really. Glad you liked it

As said every song you do is a real pleasure, love the backing vocal 'cause it doesn't do anything but enhance the main vocal. Mix for something so simple is excellent … thanksfor the repost

Mark - thank you kindly, I often listen to this one, it's got such a cool vibe to it.

If it's of interest to anyone, Tim's lyrics were inspired by real dialogue from a documentary about the Deep South  called 'Searching For The Wrong-Eyed Jesus'. It's worth a watch if you happen to find it

Thanks Doug! Tim got the inspiration for this song about the time he picked up his first mandolin, so that was a nice bit of synchronicity.

    sounds great..
    dig all the performances,
the mandolin is such a melancholy instrument,
    perfect choice for the backing

dig the trem on the bass, another nice choice.

Great song. I like it a lot. Nice, lean, but tightly put together. Vocals are great -- perfect balance between clear and weathered. Overall song has a real forward momentum to it, but never sounds rushed or hurried, and holds interest to the end.

I'm a drummer, but I have and also play a mandolin, a banjo, seven guitars, and two basses.

When I notice one of them getting too dusty, I clean it up and use it on a song, coz I figger it must be getting all lonely there, never being picked up and played. That's also why there is no consistency in any of my songs.  ;)
