Cool free bass VST

Does anyone know a cool free bass VST that has an aggressive and distorted sound? Thanks

Something like a distorted P-bass or Rickenbacker?
I'm not aware of any good free options.  Trillian (from Spectrasonics) would offer the above.

A good free option would be to colaborate with a decent bass player.   :)
Have them record the bass parts.
You could then download Amplitube Free... and use that as a distorted amp-sim.

    Da Hornet.

Crazyrocker, you should go check out a website called KVR. They have listings for like zillions of free synths.

Sonar X2 Producer. Focusrite Saffire 6, Fender Strat, black PC for recording and mixing. That is all.

Well if you want free the bass sounds in DimPro are not bad at all.

I would also advise to check the ones you got in SONARs synths. Adding an amp simulator and other FX in the audio output track gives a whole new life to the bass sounds there are.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Yeah, the ones in Dim Pro expansion pack 3 aint bad at all. Some of the ones in the original soundpack are great as well, just check that they are in tune.

Also for a free bass VST the 4front bass ( http://www.yohng.com/software/bass.html ) is not bas att all, pait it up with a distorted amp sim.

To my surprise the basses in Studio Instruments were not bad at all neither.

This said though I almost always use either Yellow Tools Majestic basses in Independence Pro or Skarbyes MM or J basses, eiter direct or through Amplitube 3 with Fender and Ampeg (sounds more natural to me than GR4) for "real" bass sounds.

There are also some really nice free bass soundfonts out there, just dl and load them up in sfz (here's a place to look http://www.soundfonts.it/?a=soundfonts&c=5#5 ).

Sadly very reduced studio equipment as it is... ASUS G750J, 8 gb RAM, Win8, Roland Quad Capture.
