Cool soprano sax Kontakt lib $30
From Zero-G: https://www.zero-g.co.uk/store/sax-supreme-p495.php Regularly $80, today only for $30 (discount code: SAX62). Sadly, even at the discounted price I can't afford it this month, so I figured I'd at least let you all know about it so maybe somebody else can score it. It sure sounds good. Listen to the "Classical" demo. Hope they plan alto and baritone versions.

Thanks Bit, That just cost me $30 but it sounded pretty good in the Jazz demo. Can't wait to compare it with the CHH soprano sax. Kind regards, Rick

What the heck. $30 can't be wasted if I find at least one song for it, right?

If you're looking for Sax plugs? Please consider Sample Modeling... They are the real deal. http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/products.php The others aren't bad? But they are not as good. If you don't have a sax player but want one? Samplemodeling... There are girls you look at and say, yes, she's pretty? And then there are girls who when you see them? You say "Wow..." That's samplemodeling... They will make you say "Wow..." And no, I don't work in the music industry or am I am anyway connected with these guys, other than being a very happy customer. They are not the cheapest? Nor do they sound that way. You will not be disappointed with the good people at Samplemodeling. I have been very satisfied with their products and their quality. They have some brass and other wind instruments as well? And I have been begging them to develop/release a solo Violin. I believe it would be "epic..." Watch Stephano play "the sax?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs1rk6M-n60 Not just the 1st part, watch it all the way through... It's not long. Their Sax plugs are amazing.

$352 for three saxaphones? $30 for one (not quite as good)? Maybe in 6 months time I'll have a $30 Bari and a $30 Tenor?

Yaa, a bit pricey. I'll wait for the AudioMIDI Samplemodeling all brass+winds for $29.00 no brainer. They'll do that after the ultrararenever Omnisphere 50% off sale, roight?

I think the future is in modeled instruments, but we've a way to go. There is nothing magical about modeling that makes it inherently superior to sampling. I've heard some pretty awful modeled instruments. It comes down to how complete the model is, IOW how many factors are taken into account. A customer of mine who worked for the National Weather Service once told me that weather forecasting could theoretically be 100% accurate, except that the model would have to be so detailed that by the time the computers had finished the calculations the weather would have come and gone. All sample libraries suffer from a common limitation, which is that they can't cover every articulation and subtlety of expression. You're always stuck with what the recordist decided to include in the collection. But for instruments that are highly complex in timbre but restricted in articulations (such as a piano or drums) samples will remain king for a long time. Saxophones, however, would indeed seem good candidates for modeling.

Got to play with this, a little, over the weekend and I feel like it is worth the $30. Can't find much about it on the net and the manual is only about 5 pages of general info. I wanted to set the vibrato up to use aftertouch vs. the default mod wheel. Went into the script, per the manual, and changed the selection in the drop down box to aftertouch vs. mod wheel (amt CC#=1) but I get no vibrato when applying aftertouch. Just curious if any other users have tried this with positive results. Hopefully I'll get to play with it more tommorrow and try some other keyboards to see if that makes any difference. Perhaps I have interpreted things wrong but there are several alternate controllers, in the drop down list, that the vibrato can be assigned to. Anyway, hoping someone here has had the chance to play with this and might shed some light on it. Kind regards, Rick

Played with this more today and I'm not really sure it is worth the $30 now. I'm using it in the latest Kontakt full 4.2 and they do say they recommend using it in Kontakt 5 full so maybe that is some of what I'm seeing. Anytime I try to change the vibrato controller it kills the audio engine in Sonar and some times causes Sonar to crash. Don't have Kontakt 5 full so I can't try it there but my guess is that the scripting was meant to take advanage of the new features of 5. It will work for simple lines in a tune but it is not something I could play live and get the articuations that I thought I heard in the demos. I'll just stick with my CHH soprano sax and leave the Zero-G alone. Another $30 lesson learned... Kind regards, Rick

Sorry, Rick. I feel responsible for your loss! In my defense, I was just going by the demo songs, which sounded great. It's probably not the lack of Kontakt 5, though. Products that require K5 won't even load in K4. And I've seen instances where a product would not work properly in K5 but would work fine in K4. I have not, however, heard of the converse. My guess would be it's a bug in a script, so it's something that the vendor may sort out.

@BAPU, Thanks Ed, I will be interested in your opinion as it may just be me vs. the library. @Bit, No reason at all to feel sorry my friend. I listened to the demos also and honestly they sound great. There are two (2) different .nki's that come with the library, one for Kontakt 4 and the other for 5. That is the only reason I thought/suggested the library may behave better in 5. The script probably does still need some work as they do print the following warning: IMPORTANT NOTE! Before playing any note on the saxophone the first thing to do is move the modulation wheel on your keyboard or on the Kontakt Interface. This will enable the vibrato and legato scripts. It is very important to remember to do this before playing for the optimal functioning of the instrument. Almost like the script needs to learn/detect the mod wheel. I did not try to open the script as I'm almost sure they would have it locked... The funny thing is that it appears to have been released in July 2012 so I would think someone would have made some kind of comments on it. I really can't find much about it on the net. I did get a support email address so I'll fire something off and see what kind of response I receive. Kind regards, Rick

I have already received an email from the managing director of Zero-G and he is sending my questions to the gentleman that compiled Super Sax to see if we can get some answers. That really was a quick reply so at least they seem to be interested in supporting their Customers. That is a Major plus!!! Kind regards, Rick

Have not go to this yet. Also going to demoing SaxLab too. I'd love the package Robby mentioned but I just cannot afford/justify it for the foreseeable future.

Received another email from Zero-G this morning. They are in process of an update and it should be available in the next few weeks. I will post back when/if I hear more. Also, I'm testing the latest firefox 19 to post this. Hope it works. Kind regards, Rick P.s. The firefox 19 did not work...

Well there's Kate Upton? And there are other women... It depends on your expectations I guess? You can have your wife/girlfriend? (I'm sure she's hot...) NOT!!?? Or you can have Kate Upton? She's not free? Like the wife, or GF? Kate is not really that hot??? Well? Maybe she is? But if your wife? Or girlfriend is "good enough?" Then GFY! (Good For You!) Personally? I think you fantasize about Kate... At least I admit it? And Sample Modeling? :-) Well... http://www.google.com/sea...p;biw=1366&bih=667 Or there's your woman? I'm sure she's hot too? And she's less expensive? So therefore, she's better than Kate? According to the logic above? The width of her *** is "irreverent." You need to understand people? You can drive a Kia? Or you can drive a Benz... When it comes to a sax plug? You can afford a Kia? "Guess what?" You can afford a Benz... ;-) Life is too short to play a Kia... And if a Kia is good enough??? Then why would anyone settle for your music? Why wouldn't they accept something "less?" "Oh my? No he didn't? Oh yes he did... Either it's the best or it isn't? And if 2nd best or 5th best has your name on it? Well then giddy up..." If you want the best? Then check this shiz out... "Again?" If the sound/tone of your sax is not important? Then nevermind...
