Copy paste midi problem

Hello people! i'd like some help here if someone could help me! I seem to have a problem when i copy paste midi notes. This is how it goes.. I downloaded a standard midi of a song. Its all good, playback is normal with cakewalk TTS synth. But if i copy e.g the midi notes of a string track to another soft synth like Dimension Pro, i get no sound from dimension pro. lMy inputs outputs are all correct. It only happens when i copy a midi track or put the output to dimension pro. If i play notes with output Dimension Pro it works normaly but when i copy the notes of cakewalk TTS it doesnt make any sound on playback!
Any help?
Thanks!!

    1. If you change the original track from tts to Dimension it plays ok
    2. If you set up a separate track with Dimension and copy midi from original to new one it doesn't play.

If this is what is happening check the channel numbers. When you set up the Dimension track do you set up the channel for the correct instrument? (I don't know Dimension but I do this all the time with Philhamonik with no problems).

You can't just set the track as Dimension and then copy midi. You have to pick channel number.

    As John say's.
You would insert the new soft synth.
Insert a new MIDI track and assign it's output to that synth.
Go to properties and change the channel number to one not used with TTS-1 and will be used by dim pro.

    Hey guys!! Thanks for replying!
John, in ur post number1, doesnt work if i change the output from TTS to Dimension Pro.

Johnny, i have already tried it and did again but still nothing. :(

I have also tried opening a new project, inserting Dimension Pro or any other synth, copying the midi file or importing it to a new midi track in the new project that has only Dimension Pro in it, and still nothing. My outputs and channels are correct.

Could it be that the midi file is somehow locked and copy paste wont work?

so, now i inserted cakewalk TTS in the new project that had only dimension pro, moved the midi clip to tts midi track and that works fine!
    Any other ideas?

The TTS synth can respond on all midi channels at once while dim pro generally only works on one channel. So TTS is a good choice for a first listen of a midi file. If you then copy a clip to a dim pro track, you need to override the midi channel that is in that clip using the output midi channel control (widget) that is in the track header (as John & Johnny were referring to). Dim pro likes channel 1 the best.

As an alternate approach you could use the event view to see what channel is in those midi events, and then modify the dim pro patch settings to respond to that midi channel.
