Copying notes in the PRV...

OK...dumb question...in the PRV how do I select a note and drag it to a new location leaving the original note intact but putting a copy at the new location??  I tried "shift-select" but it only works intermittently????  If I lasso an entire phrase in the PRV and copy it...how then do I paste it into the correct location inside the PRV.  I know these are "clown questions, bro"...but I don't usually work this way.  I'm trying to quickly add an octave down part to a lengthy string section.  Hip me will ya??

Select the notes first, then hold the Ctrl key down while dragging.  I don't know whether it still works this way in X1 though.  I'm using v7.

hold down control key to make a copy, holding shift at the same time will change that note to a different note but keep it in line (not being able to move side to side)
thats helpful if you want to just move a note to hear a different pitch but keep it in the same bar placement.

in order to lasso and keep all this in the same loca,
lasso the notes, keep an eye on the first lassoed note to the left.
move the now time to the begining of where that first note on the right is going to start.

i know i explained this more complicated then it really is but you get the idea.

It's weird because I thought it was ctrl-click but that wasn't working for me either.  I'll do some more testing but thanks to all for getting back with me.  Don't know why ctrl-clk wasn't working.

Ctrl-click and drag works here in X1d Exp.  Hold Ctrl/left click/drag to any location.  Original stays put.

And you can also Ctrl+Shift+Drag to make copies that are horizontally aligned with the original; i.e., adding notes to chords, etc.
