Copying/Pasting between 2 projects

I'm wondering what has been found to be the easiest way to copy a short section of one song and paste it into the middle of another song.  In this case I am talking about MIDI instrument tracks, and I need to replace a section of the same length in the second song for all the previously recorded tracks.  So I would need to mute or delete the bars to be replaced.  Also, one thing I am not clear about is this:
 
I have inserted soft synths in both songs, for example Dimension Pro.  And it is designated as #1 in the first song.  But I already have a DimPro with the same number in the second song.  Do I have to insert it again in the second song after pasting?  Or does Sonar know to change the number if I don't?
 
I would probably do this as a Clip Group so as not to have to copy each track separately.  Apparently the correct number of tracks will be opened in the second song.  Do I need to designate the starting track for the group in the second song where the resulting tracks will not overlap tracks already existing, or will Sonar just find available open tracks even if not in exact order?

But I'm still wondering about how to handle soft synths in doing that.  Copying like that does not  include the soft synth that has previously been inserted into the track being moved.  What I did was insert a new instance of a soft synth for each of the tracks that were moved after moving them.
 
I'm wondering what would have happened if I had also moved the soft synth tracks that had already been inserted into the first project before those tracks were moved.  I had a DimPro1 in each project.  Would Sonar have changed that into a non-duplicating number when moved, or would that have messed things up because of winding up with 2 DimPro number ones?  I didn't want to take a chance on doing that, but would like to know for the next time.

I copy from one song to another frequently. The manual process below is multi-step and works fine. I'm not aware of a way to take multiple tracks and their content of events and paste them all in one shot into a target file.

Generally speaking when I'm copying tracks they are not into exact duplicate songs, so do not have the same synths in the same order or the same tracks in the same order.

You can obviously call up a track template to get the same empty track stuff, including loaded synths etc,as an empty track (as a container to put the events into). It may also be easy to just recreate the midi or audio tracks with the same routing in the target file as as the corresponding tracks in the source song file.

In the source file, to get the event info, click on a track and ensure in the Event Inspector in your Control Bar that you can see you've selected from measure 1.

Then go to the target file and use Paste Special (Control Alt V). Paste to the track and verify you have the same measure 1 start time.

Do this procedure track by track.
